On Wednesday evening, Norway received three new F-35s. Every year six new multirole combat aircraft arrive from the factory at Lockheed Martin in the US. These are the first three deliveries for this year. In total, Norway has now received 37 F-35s.

For the first time, the Norwegian Air Force releases images of the F-35 in the air taken from the F-35. It is also the first time the F-35 participates in a Norwegian exercise and flies in Swedish airspace during Arctic Challenge Exercise 2021.
RNoAF is currently in Keflavik for the NATO mission Iceland Air Policing. A mission to establish air surveillance and interception coverage over Iceland and maintain the integrity of NATO airspace.

Norwegian F-16s were scrambled to respond to Russian aircraft. A P-3 Orion aircraft, already on a mission, identified the Russian group. While most of the group returned to Russia, two Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bombers continued to fly south over the North Sea.

The three newest editions to Norways increasing fleet of F-35 fighter aircraft arrived at Ørland main airstation tonight at 21:57 local time. In a few years, in 2025, the F-35s will reach full operational capability.
Arctic Challenge Exercise 2023 is over. Four nations with their F-35 have learned to cooperate with fourth generation aircrafts from nine other countries. The Nordic nations have shown the capability to protect Nordic airspace.

The Norwegian F-35s have reach over 10.000 flighthours since the first two aircraft started flying at Luke Airforce Base in November 2015. This week they also reached 4000 flight hours in Norwegian airspace.
This afternoon, a Norwegian P-3C Orion followed a Russian group of vessels off the Norwegian coast. The Russians sailed legally in international waters, but Norway continuously follows all movements in the High North. Our Orion aircraft are central to this mission.

Weapon Instructor Course (WIC) is conducted for the first time with Norwegian F-35 pilots. This is a cooperation between Norway and Netherlands, lasting from May to November 2021. The course provides the highest operational education you can possibly get as a fighter pilot.
This week B-1, strategic bombers, trained together with Norwegian F-35s, F-16s, JTACs, a frigate and air controllers, strengthening both strategic and tactical cooperation. The training further develops the ability to plan and conduct joint operations in the Arctic.

Today, Norway’s F-35s officially took over the QRA mission for NATO and Norway. The introduction of the new fighter jets has been a great success since the first F-35s arrived Norway in 2017. The system will reach full operational capability in 2025.
Yesterday Chief of Defence Eirik Kristoffersen visited Ørland Main Airstation and U.S Bomber Task Force (BTF). They are in Norway to train with The Norwegian Armed Forces. Together with the Royal Norwegian Air Force they are doing joint training.
On Tuesday night, the Air Defense Battalion from 132 Air Wing Ørland fired two live AMRAAM (Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile) missiles from Andøya, in their annual live fire exercise Bold Silver Arrow. They are now deploying to Evenes, to join exercise Falcon Deploy 2021.
Today marks the first step of the transition from the rescue helicopter Sea King, that has been with us for many years, to the new search and rescue (SAR) helicopter SAR Queen at the Royal Norwegian Air Force base Sola.

U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, currently based out of Keflavik Air Base, Iceland, completed a Bomber Task Force mission with Norway over the North Sea monday and wednesday this week.
«Munin" landed at Evenes airbase this morning. This is the third out of five P-8 Poseidon maritime patrole aircraft that arrives in Norway. P-8 Poseidon will take over for both our P-3 Orion and DA-20.

Today our F-35s and F-16s trained with allied forces in a multi-domain exercise outside the Norwegian coast. The training strenghtens cooperation between allies during simultaneous operations, and our ability to exercise command and control and communicate over large distances.
Norwegian forces continue training with allies in Norway. Yesterday the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted amphibious operations at Tarva. This type of cooperation with our closest allies, is valuable and important for ensuring that we can work well together.

Before Easter, the NH90 frigate helicopter was on NATO FORACS Norway, to do validation tests that will provide increased insight into sensor performance and communication systems, which are fundamental to the ability to deliver weapons against submarines and surface combatants.
