Yesterday I wrote to our 2,140 global majority nurses, midwives and care staff here at @NorthBristolNHS, a message of solidarity in light of recent events in the United Kingdom over the last week, and more close to home in Bristol over the weekend. The riots we witnessed were not just acts of violence, but a painful reminder of the ongoing presence of racism and hate that continue to afflict our society and everyday lives. I want to reassure all of our global majority colleagues, that you are valued members of our NBT community, we are a vibrant and beautiful mix of heritage, cultures, religions, and languages, the very essence of what makes us one team, #TeamNBT Today, we have over 200 nationalities represented in our NHS, my message is simple, I am with you. I know that my white privilege affords me the protection that our global majority colleagues do not have, I will continue my allyship today, tomorrow and always.
