Marleen Muenster saw the vision for Lost Rail and trusted us with her beautiful property. We wouldn’t be where we are without her. She died last week at age 75. This is a small tribute to her character and spirit.

Newly seeded and sodded, the short course is scheduled to open in October. Seven holes range from 60-120 yards, including four wild and often diabolical double greens. That’s fescue beneath the straw. No sand, but numerous jagged edges and nasty falloffs. Joyful misery.

New drone video for a rainy day. The par-4 2nd (430 back tee) drops into the trees. A huge fairway slope propels drives left and down the hill, leaving a short iron across the ravine. Left side of the green is pretty forgiving. It'll take more nerve to attack the right plateau.

The par-4 15th. This dogleg right (465 tips) back to the clubhouse rewards boldness. A good drive challenges the bunkers & cuts off significant length. From there, a nasty greenside bunker grabs your attention, but a miss left leaves a delicate downhill chip. Tough hole.

17 fairway is filling in nicely. This long iron/hybrid approach will be one of LR’s toughest tests. Appropriate considering 18 is a par 5. What’s your line? Aim for the flag or bail right? Split the difference and feed a draw off the slope? A par 4 here may feel like birdie.

The drivable 10th plays east along a wicked ravine. Left is dead, but the key is the bunker 35 yards short right. Attack left of it? Blast driver over it & use the slope to get home? Or bail right, leaving a dicey downhill pitch to a green going away? Eagle is available. So is 6.
