What is a "good start pace" in time trial biathlon sprint? We show that adjusting the pace the first ~3 min has a substantial influence on the overall performance. Biathletes increased performance, but reduced the rate of perceived exertion.

XC skiing beats cycling (in downloads...). We showed that elite skiers have superior ability to "recharge" their battery during intermittent work intervals. I find this interesting from a training perspective. Endurance is sport spesific, but how to do it? Open access article👇

We used the same method in Biathlon, with similar results: The start pace the first 3 min of a race (25 min) has a substantial influence of the overall performance.
The scientific basis for the "Norwegian pacing model" in cross country skiing can be read here in open access👇 A teamwork between @nih_physicperf, @SenTIF_NTNU, @Olympiatoppen and staff&students at NTG-Geilo.
