Disgusted by @vernonkay and @BBCRadio2 for playing the Acorn computer program for women 1983 clip- barely a comment about the horrendous sexism, and instead focus on 1983 being 40 years ago. Appalled. You have just reignited what sadly some men will still find agreeable.

No significant surprises here, but pretty heartbreaking to see the figures in print. The ridiculous push for schools to prioritise EBacc entries to gain ‘Outstanding’ status is destroying The Arts. @ofsted @MusicEdUK

@BBCWomansHour @itsanitarani @LouisaMcGeehan @Justforkidslaw @tombennett71 Unfortunately yes they should. As a teacher of 15 years, I have seen the vast impact of one child on a whole school year and community. Exclusion only appears after lengthy support- teenagers have the ability to know right from wrong no matter their background.

A few years ago, I vividly remember being told by a female headteacher that a school should never celebrate #InternationalWomensDay It confused and angered me. Today I work elsewhere and celebrated a crucial day with girls and women alike all standing together with male allies.

@DrFautley @tes In part, I actually agree. I have interviewed far too many NQT’s for Music teaching jobs, who, having done a Popular or Tech Music degree, have little to no experience in reading music or understanding the relevant theory to teach GCSE. PGCE providers need to address this.

@SteveChalke 5) and the impact you could have from such a claim, instantly removes blame from students who will have a knowledge of right and wrong. I’d be keen to discuss this further with you, but I’m mindful professional conversations, in depth, should be less public.

@SteveChalke 4) Please do not assume that as a leader in education, that you see all sides of a crucial story impacting young women and men. We are learners- if we fail to have an open mind, we have no right to remain in the facilitation of education. Do recognise that your words have impact-

@SteveChalke 3) I say these things as someone who also works with young people on a daily basis. I teach RSE, also grew up in the Evangelical church system, and am overseeing the preparation and transition of a school from being boys only to becoming Co Ed....

@SteveChalke 1)Let’s somewhat agree that this can be 1 of the issues that is at fault. But consider the potential other concerns we face which contribute towards this: disconnected parenting, not educating young men and women to respect one another, the limited focus on character education...
