LONG LIVE PEGGY This is real
Today is an important day - It's Martin Luther King Jr. Day. And I have some things to say. I know that black issues aren't trendy to most anymore, but for me and people that look like me, they don't go out of style. They’re interwoven into the fabric of our very life. Its inescapable. So excuse me if I have some thoughts on something I never once in my life asked for. I’m thankful to Dr. King. I'm thankful to him because without his work and the tireless work from other great black men and women that came before and after, no person of color in this country would have any rights. It is sad to me that Dr. King's death is spoken about like anything other than a grim brutal murder of a great man who posed a threat to certain people’s way of life. When I looked into his death as a child, it saddened me that a man so great was killed so callously and there was no explanation other than just racism. But it's not just that. It's never that simple. Dr. King was shot in the face like a drill rapper and left to bleed to death on a motel balcony - While people took pictures and the police ran around like idiots. It's sad because it so similar to how black men are disrespected & murdered routinely still today. It's interesting how so much of this society has advanced. People are discovering so many new things, cars can drive by themselves, there is AI, and yet the way America and the world in general treats black men has not changed at all. Dr. King's blood was left on the balcony all night. Until a janitor came and scooped it up in a jar. Piece by piece. Three men took pictures and documented the aftermath. And there was no one around but them & the janitor. I guess the more shit changes, the more it stays the same. Because to me, this sounds like a police report from 2025. I don’t flinch when certain people try and project an image and personality onto me that has nothing to do with me as a person or as a black man, I understand that certain people are so insecure, that they need YOU to be where THEY are at, in order to justify their hate. This is especially true, for black men. I don’t flinch when certain people project this idea that I weaponize black issues when it's convenient for me. Black issues are never convenient for me. Black issues are something I deal with, regardless of what I feel. I wish i had the privilege of not having to think about this. But i don’t. There are people on this very app. And all around the world, that are just so tone deaf and stupid that they could never understand - how a black man could care about issues that directly affect him. Because they do not care about black people in general. I’m thankful to Dr. King for giving all us people of color rights. And I will always do my best to keep his spirit and energy alive. Rest in peace to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. l
