As Ireland considers ending trade links with Israel, a liberal democracy, we should remember that Ireland trades with China, Qatar, Zimbabwe, Iran and Saudi Arabia. Curiously, I've not heard a word from the Irish govt about suspending trade with those pariah regimes. Hypocrisy.

To add to my earlier post- While the fascist IRA was collaborating with the Nazis and bombing British cities, 80,000 brave Irish men and women served in the British forces fighting Hitler. Upon returning home to Ireland, they were treated as traitors and outcasts.

Higgins' letter was a propaganda coup for Iran. A grovelling love letter from a western leader. Iran had every incentive to publish it and we have irrefutable proof that Iran did actually publish it. By blaming Israel, Higgins is climbing into the filthy gutter of conspiracy.

Nobody wants to see civilians die, but your argument, that "the point is to kill civilians," is preposterous. The fact Israel eliminated Hezbollah's upper echelon in a single strike shows that the goal is the destruction of Hezbollah, not killing civilians.

The Lebanese people are victims of Hezbollah. The Palestinian people are victims of Hamas. To liberate Lebanon and Palestine, both Hezbollah and Hamas need to be permanently destroyed.
