100% its this. As a one piece fan you HAVE to ignore the pacing and animation quality, in exchange you get some really cinematic and beautiful moments that even put the manga in the dirt at times. Bink's Sake exists. We are exits. The manga and anime are companions.

The One Piece fan in me killed the DB fan in me by being so much better than it. I grew up on DB and DBZ but Oda took what Toriyama did and did it with more heart and more passion. Oda's love for his series oozes out of every panel, Toriyama stopped loving DB decades ago.
