Ahead of the G7 summit in Cornwall the CEOs of American Airlines, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Heathrow Airport have issued a joint statement calling for the reopening of transatlantic travel between the UK and the US.
British Airways has confirmed it will retire its Boeing 747, G-CIVV tomorrow. The 86 Club World seat aircraft entered into service in June 1998 and operated its last commercial flight from Chicago O'Hare in March.

BA leased 230 slots a week to easyJet for the summer 2022 season.

JetBlue remains on track to launch flights to Boston next summer, but has not yet disclosed from which London airport they will operate.
Virgin Atlantic has confirmed it will restart flights from London Heathrow to Las Vegas & Orlando from 8 November.
As will Manchester - New York JFK & Orlando. Manchester - Atlanta will restart on 2 December.
Confirmed British Airways long-haul routes returning at London Heathrow in October include:
- Daily flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg
- Three times weekly flights to Bahrain, Montreal and Riyadh
All from 1 October, except Montreal which is from 2 October.
London City Airport has confirmed that BA CityFlyer will restart routes to Dublin, Edinburgh, Florence, Glasgow, Ibiza, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca this summer.
British Airways aims to almost fully restore its transatlantic route network by the third quarter of 2022 and operate 34 routes, compared to 36 in 2019.
BA had suspended Calgary, Charleston, Pittsburgh and Portland. This map suggests Pittsburgh and Portland may be relaunched.
International Airlines Group has ordered a further 37 Airbus A320neo family aircraft.
It has converted 12 existing options and ordered 25 new aircraft, with options for a further 50 aircraft.
The CAA has denied Heathrow Airport's plans to increase its maximum passenger charge from £30.19 to £41.95.
Over the next control period, before inflation, the charge will fall to £26.31 by 2026.
This is a big win for airlines which had protested strongly against the increase.
In May, British Airways plans to operate 21 cargo only flights a week from China to the UK.
14 cargo only flights will depart Shanghai for London Heathrow each week. 7 cargo only flights will operate from Beijing.
Aer Lingus has confirmed it has signed a ten year franchise agreement with Emerald Airlines to operate Aer Lingus Regional flights. This will start on 1 January 2023, but options for an earlier date are being explored.
Virgin Atlantic has confirmed these routes from Heathrow will return in August:

Flybe’s Heathrow slots, equivalent to 12 daily return flights, have been returned to British Airways for the summer 2020 season.
Whilst BA will welcome the return of the slots this could not be more ill-timed. BA will have to seek a dispensation to avoid forfeiting them.
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce says the airline has now restarted work on "Project Sunrise" to bring non stop flights from London Heathrow to Melbourne & Sydney.
There is still no indication as to when Qantas will confirm its order for Airbus A350-1000 ULR aircraft.
The retirement of British Airways' 747 fleet continues apace. Aircraft G-CIVI, which bears the Oneworld alliance livery, will be retired tomorrow.

British Airways has confirmed that 10 Airbus A320 and 9 Airbus A321 aircraft will gradually transfer to BA EuroFlyer Ltd over the next six months.
The first aircraft, G-GATL, now bears the decal “Operated by BA EuroFlyer Ltd”.

The two airlines have a long relationship. Loganair was a former BA franchise partner. Since Loganair became an independent airline, BA has codeshared on routes to the Highlands & Islands.

Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss has told Richard Quest on CNN that the impact of a 2nd lockdown in England has been less severe than expected and bookings for 2021 have increased following positive news on a vaccine against COVID-19.

Qantas has released official images from its record breaking non-stop flight QF14 from Buenos Aires to Darwin. The 17 hour and 25 minute flight departed at 12:44 local time and arrived in Darwin at 18:39 local time.

Qantas has issued a brief update on "Project Sunrise" in its half-year results:
- The cabin configuration of the A350-1000 has been done.
- Regulatory approval is still ongoing.
- Qantas is conspicuously silent on negotiations with its pilots.
