The Venus of Hohle Fels figurine is the oldest sculpture depicting the human figure. It is the oldest “Venus figurine” – any Upper Paleolithic sculpture of a woman – and dates back to about 35,000 – 40,000 years ago.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Cycladic figurines c. 3300 to 1100 BCE? I think they look like the Easter island sculptures and they fascinate me. In uni they went on about being for “fertility”, I doubt that. People were buried with them.

1/4 🧵I recently covered Phaistos, a Minoan site. During the 1908 excavations, one of the most interesting artifacts found is the "Phaistos Disc". It is a baked clay disc roughly 15cm in radius. It features 45 unique glyphs grouped into 61 sections totaling 241 symbols.

Some Dinosaur tracks I visited today on some private land in Glen Rose Tx. They have been uncovered about 60 years and have deteriorated quite a bit since first uncovered. There were juveniles tracks with adults, so they were maternal unlike most reptiles.

September 14th near White Sands Missile Range, Holloman Air Force Base and the Trinity Site, NM. So yeah they were testing something. The phone did it zero justice, it was so bright under the milky way and it took forever and covered a lot of the sky.
