Today’s Budget made some important strides in fixing some of the critical issues facing the NHS. More beds, new scanners, and investment in hospital infrastructure are long overdue. But, it’s not gone unnoticed that there was no new investment in nursing.
The Chancellor’s task was difficult, but the crisis in nursing remains unresolved after today’s Budget. We are safety-critical, worthy of infrastructure-style investment. That's how you make the NHS safer, local communities healthier & boost the economy.

The evidence is crystal clear. The financial burden of training is deterring so many would-be nurses into our profession when we need them most. The Govt needs to take decisive action now and undo years of terrible decisions on nursing education.
The prospect of huge debt and lack of financial support is putting off the nurses of the future. We need action from the govt, including: ✅ forgiveness for nursing tuition fee loans ✅ financial support for nursing students to help with living costs 🔗

Much of the contents Lord Darzi’s Independent investigation of the NHS in England will sadly come as no surprise to our members. The NHS is in need of repair. This can’t happen without investment in nursing.
Nursing staff will recognise many of Lord Darzi’s conclusions. Caring for patients in corridors & armchairs is not the standard of care they want. Only dedicated investment in nursing and a boost to recruitment can ensure we meet staff and patient needs.

This is utterly unacceptable and the nursing community will not stand for it. Mary Seacole is an inspirational figure for nurses from all backgrounds and her statue acts as a stark reminder that racism and social injustice have no place in our society.
Today, we learned the statue of Mary Seacole in London was vandalised in a racist act. Our General Secretary and Chief Executive Professor Nicola Ranger condemns this act of vandalism and vows to support the statue’s restoration.

Hi @SigsworthJanice, is this something you can pick up with your team? It seems @ImperialNHS are not following nationally agreed policy for band 2 staff. My team and I are happy to have chat with you if helpful?
Many band 2 members of nursing staff are providing care with the skill and responsibility of band 3, but are still paid band 2 salaries. @ImperialNHS you are advertising a B2 role with B3 responsibilities 👉🏼 Can we help you review this?
