Life takes some weird twists. I went to the hospital on Sunday with a fever worried I had contracted covid only to learn I had an infection from a gall stone and needed surgery. Survived it. The silver lining: who goes to the hospital for a fever except during a Covid Pandemic.

My grandma, Mary Thomas, was born in 1865, in slavery. She grew up in the South post-slavery, lived in Jim Crow, thru the Depression, WWl &ll. She lived with us when I was in Middle Sch and died when I was in 8th grade at 100. I am sorry I never asked about her past.
