Prepping for my first in person talk. Taking care of the important stuff first.
…learning to walk in these babies that have never been out for a spin 🥰
Thank you to everyone for the kind words and support. I’m still pinching myself.
👇🏻 This little immigrant girl dared to dream that she would be a doctor. Today, she exceeded that dream & became Professor.
To all the little girls, dream big!!! Auntie Linda’s got you!
Join us in congratulating Dr. Linda Nguyen on promotion to Clinical Professor

Dr. Nguyen is a dedicated clinician and accomplished researcher with expertise in neurogastroenterology and motility.
Also, she is a strong mentor

Have I mentioned lately how much I love California despite the high cost of living?
Quick coffee break in the sun as I await my next case to start
#diastole
#MedGrind
Today marks a milestone I’ve dreaded for 24 years😩
Today, I’ve lived more years w/o my beloved mom than w/ her
She modeled love & resilience. Despite stage 4 gastric cancer, she was back doing the work she loved & enjoyed the foods she craved
Gone too soon. Never forgotten 💔

This

Why?

2️⃣ had to go back 4 years to find a pic
3️⃣ searching for pic reminded me I miss the beach & travel

An amazing journey with lots of bumps, bruises and victories along the way. So many things I wish I could tell younger me.
To all the trainees & junior faculty, be authentically you
Taking this challenge from

to heart.
➡️ Teach the things you wish to learn
➡️ Give the lectures you hunger to hear
➡️ Start the conversations you wish would begin
➡️ Tell the stories you need to be told
Day late is setting up my out of office response. Will no longer be pretending I have limited email access. Because really… how often does that happen anymore?
Hoping y’all help hold me accountable for vacationing “correctly” 🤞🏻🙏🏼
She would have turned 76 today had she not been taken away 22 years ago by

She never got to see her girls grow up into the women you see now.
Happy Birthday mom ❤️

Symptoms of
#gastroparesis
are predominantly exacerbated by eating. "Man" vs. Food when food wins. So what does one eat? Below a study of small particle foods vs. a standard gastroparesis diet. Small particle diet decreases GP symptoms.

Northern California Vietnamese Physician Association scholarship dinner where we honor brilliant graduating Vietnamese HS students & their families who have conquered great challenges to excel academically & in their communities

I often compare my job to that of a CSI (love the show). Patient = crime scene. Me (CSI) gathers evidence (H&P, labs, imaging, etc). Come up with suspects (differential diagnoses)
So... I came up with a new title GSI (Gut Science Investigator).
Debate with my hubby:
2️⃣5️⃣ years ago today, we lost our mom to stomach cancer.
She taught me the power of food:
🥰 the joy of delicious food
🏡 how it can bring people together & turn a house into a home
🥳 how we celebrate one another
🥲 how we mourn
Food is medicine for the body & soul
Mallyship begins at home. Grateful for the unconditional support from

Dr. Bill Hasler presenting our multi-center study showing that prokinetics alone not effective in gastroparesis. Addition of neuromodulators Or neuromodulators alone more beneficial. Data that supports my typical practice

Would also add 7-9 am. Schools typically don’t start until 8-8:30 am. Getting kids ready and out the door is not easy nor are there sufficient resources even for early AM childcare. Try getting someone to watch kids before 7 am so you can get to a meeting

Confused about idiopathic

You’re not alone. Trainee recently asked. Here’s my answer
There’s significant overlap based on symptoms and physiological disturbances.
We need biomarkers to help guide diagnosis and therapy

I would take 💯 people on a flight wearing a mask and space helmet over 1 person refusing to wear a mask.
I wonder if it fogs up. Maybe my next PPE look for clinic 🤔😂

The stomach is a complex organ and does more than just empty. Since we tend to get more 💚 than stomach training, my breakdown using heart failure as an analogy
