I don’t know who needs to hear this but, if people wanted to, they would. If someone wants to fix their relationship with you, they put in the effort to have uncomfortable conversations. If someone wants to love you, they put in the effort to get to know your love language. If someone wants to be part of your life, they put in the effort to be present. It’s really that simple. It’s just hard for you to accept because that means admitting to yourself that some people don’t care about you the way you care for them. For that, my heart goes out to you. That hurts to know. But remember, rejection is part of life and necessary for growth. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you can move on to starting over—not from scratch but from experience this time.

If you love someone, be serious about putting your ego aside. The best thing you can do in the heat of the moment is see through the person you’re fighting with—see past what’s being said to understand them at a deeper & more intimate level. Most people act out as a cry for love. Maybe it’s a cry for attention because they don’t know how to ask for love in a healthy way. Maybe it’s a cry for intimacy because the only way they know how to connect with people is by arguing. Maybe it’s a cry for deeper understanding because there’s a bigger problem at hand, but it’s easier to fight you on the small stuff. There’s more to it than what’s happening in the moment. As someone that loves them, it’s your job to find out what that is. Giving someone the gift of understanding really is the highest form of intimacy.
