Amb. Wenaweser has co-authored the joint op-ed (link below) of the current and all former Presidents of the Assembly of States Parties @IntlCrimCourt calling for support for the Court in light of possible sanctions against it ⚖️ 🚩

By commemorating the victims of the Holocaust, we are also reminded of our duty to prevent genocide and crimes against humanity from reoccurring. To do so, we need continue to fight impunity, strengthen international criminal justice and combat antisemitism & all forms of hatred.

LI happy to host Head of International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (#IIIM) Robert Petit on their historic visit to #Syria & its financial needs. A strong IIIM is vital for ensuring accountability for crimes in Syria. Proud to support it financially & urge others to join.

LI is happy to contribute 150’000 USD to the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) to seize this crucial window to advance accountability in Syria and calls upon other member states to support the IIIM in its critical efforts to end impunity.

Once again LI is among the first UN Member States to pay their contributions to the UN regular budget on time and in full – we remind all Member States of their obligation to pay their contributions 2025 timely and fully for the UN to be effective for #Peace #HumanRights #SDGs

Congratulations to Denmark on ratifying the Kampala Amendments on the #CrimeOfAggression and all seven amendments to the ICC's Rome Statute! 🇩🇰 joins 47 countries that have done so in one go, promoting #Accountability and consistent international justice without double standards.

Exactly eight years after 🇱🇮 presented the #UNGA resolution creating the #IIIM, the leadership of the Syria accountability mechanism has entered #Syria for the first time. The changes in Syria represent a unique opportunity for comprehensive justice and sustainable peace.

The change in Syria offers an opportunity for comprehensive accountability which we must seize together, with a central role for the IIIM. This a crucial moment to give active support to the IIIM and to provide additional funding. (2/2)

Today the #ICJ concluded its dialogue with States on #ClimateChange, LI stressed that “all Member States have the obligation to take all necessary measures to protect the right to #self-determination” against the impact of climate change. ⚖️

To respond to the unprecedented number of armed conflicts, @UNCERF is needed more than ever. Today LI announced a contribution of 300’000 Swiss Francs for 2025 – in line with its longstanding commitment to mitigate humanitarian emergencies and underfunded crises.

On #HumanRightsDay, LI stresses the need to build peaceful, just and inclusive societies that provide equal access to justice and are based on respect of human rights & rule of law, as reaffirmed by the Pact for the Future. By defending human rights, we foster peace & stability!
