I hope this book is a useful resource for @CSTvoice leaders. It is intended to bring together our thought leadership over the years into the three nested leadership narratives of trust leadership (leadership of your organisation), civic leadership and system leadership.

@jillberry102 @andrewoneillHT @tes The thing is, Ofsted is not the regulator of schools. This is much misunderstood. It is the inspectorate. Ofsted is the regulator of early years providers but not schools. Also (confusingly) inspection is a regulatory activity. This is why we need a strong theory of regulation.

No I’m afraid this is not one of the academy freedoms at all. All state schools are bound by the same admissions regulations and the same statutory duties in this regard. Perhaps we can have a chat about this?
What are these "freedoms" academy CEOs want to keep? Well, they want to retain being able to pick and choose which students to take. If you can avoid taking poor kids or SEND kids it does wonders for your data. Many of them are more socially selective than grammar schools.

Hi Daniel the research does not say this at all. It looks at selective practices in all state schools. I’m not sure how you have arrived at a position which suggests this only affects the trust sector.
I've upset a series of Govites and Academy CEO's by saying they're socially selective - and want to hold on to the "freedom" to pick and choose students. Please see the research from Sutton Trust that corroborates this. Here: And here:

You have made such a significant contribution to the English education system! Thank you for everything you have done but particularly building our collective knowledge of inclusive practice.
So, after 37 years teaching, and 28 since my first Headship, I'll be stepping down from my role as CEO of @WHPTrust, and though I will still be doing some things, I won't be doing as much Working with children and so many amazing colleagues has been the great privilege of my life
