The big man was a huge lover of
@SunderlandAFC
. And when he got his hands on the nameplate from 43274, was like a kid in a sweet shop. A fitting photo ❤️
@redleaderwright
Today will go down as the worst day of my Career. Being at work and finding out a true true friend has left us is absolutely gut wrenching. We spoke everyday. You guided me through the darkest times of my life. You were more than a friend. Love you mate. Sleep easy 💔💔
The lads pulled it out the bag (eventually) and sealed the 3 points.
@redleaderwright
would have had a field day giving his reaction to that match. No doubt watching from above with a pint in his hand cursing the worlds most frustrating team! Haway the lads.

Ha Ha this going to take some beating from

today at Grantshouse, the smile says it all,brilliant thanks. 👍👍👍
A tradition that is sadly becoming too frequent, and until today, unimaginable in these circumstances. Raising a dram to the big man in the sky. This ones for you

Little bit of history whilst sat waiting for the train ahead to scarper off. The final time LNER will be signalled by Middlesbrough Signal Box, before control of this and Whitehouse shifts to the York ROC from Monday.
And there we have it. The first arrival of a scheduled passenger service into Middlesbrough from London, for a considerable amount of time. 1N23 delivered on time, and 5N23 handed over to the depot staff to prep for it’s morning boro mission tomorrow. A pleasure to be in the seat
Looking back over old photos whilst waiting for the go ahead to resume work. Think it’s fair to say, the office has changed slightly over the years. 1 in particular was my absolute favourite to drive.
This will always be my favourite place to have worked in my career, and it was an absolute privilege to drive HSTs, a boyhood dream. But, as the 2nd image shows, their cab construction is unfortunately not safe by modern standards. Fibreglass has no place nowadays.
Caught in the hotseat at Morpeth by

recently. Thoroughly enjoyed being back over my old stomping ground over the last week. The Northern end of the ECML is by far the best bit of route we drive on! (Apart from Sunderland obviously)
Memories reminding me it’s 5 years since my first ever solo driving turn as a Edinburgh based driver. 91122 doing the honours on 5E08/1E08! Fantastic memories and made some absolute friends for life up there. Always a jock driver at heart. 🏴
@holdmch
I was driving the train directly behind and we got held at Grantshouse. Had we not have got stopped, and I was the train who raised the alarm, like my colleague ahead did I would have deemed this unsafe. Post carmont we take no chances. Job stopper for definite.
The limit of our Route Knowledge boundaries for the Teesside area (unless a 10 car. In which case. The next stop marker). The line continues along into Wilton EFW Terminal. Still very much active for freight workings.
iPhone memories reminding me that 6 years ago today, I had a slightly different office to the one I arrived with into the smoke today. One of them if definitely the one I’d want……
43306 back on the Loch Ness flyer, 11th June 2018. What a flying machine it was too!!
Love seeing old photos. Clocked this on Facebook this morning. Approaching journeys end, passing WGC, after a high speed blast down the ECML with 43310 and 43367. Loved every minute of driving these. Boyhood dream achieved. (Credit to Alex Ayre for the photo)
Happiest at work when North! Last leg of todays double trip Edinburgh and stumbled across the Acklington regulars! Always a pleasure to make (lots) of noise.

Trawling through the archives and recall him sending this a while back 😂😂. Think the pair of you were dishing out suitbable grief at the time 😂👍🏼
A strange atmosphere filled the air on tonight’s Middlesbrough shift. An atmosphere of grieving a national treasure. Everyone glued to their phones/laptops, holding out for positive news. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out that way. RIP to our beloved queen 😢God save the queen❤️
Today is another day where I withdraw my labour in this continuing fight against Tory incompetence and corruption. Solidarity to all striking colleagues today. We stand together. We stand firm. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
