Part 3 But optically good because the CRI is (color rendering) is (or should be) good to recognize people and things in close to real color. Now to the question: What about safety? The LED wins because of clarity, however the blinding glare is unsafe. But in the end, it is the…
Part 2 (sodium) plants appear brown and people sallow. The next photo could be metal halide - I call it grey light - next generation after sodium, but probably a cool CT LED. Positive: long lasting, low maintainance. But as you can see, not optically preferable because of glare.

Part 1. Oh dear. This is revealing. Revealing of what? The lack of general knowledge of #urbanlighting 🥲. The “orange” light is sodium vapor, once upon a time highly sustainable; low wattage and long lasting. the CRI (color rendering) however, is not desireable.. go to 2

@LUCIassociation @LUCIassociation The talk was essential. And I want to point out the engineering feat of theatrical spotlights at the top of this photo that are suspended on wires!

Thanks for reiterating @MatthiasARauch the US could use the same focus.
We need to (re)-prioritize #culture as foundational in cities & in society to better showcase culture‘s value proposition that it is always at the center of how we want to live together, says @tfconsultancy. #eurocitiesforculture

@Jocoxbrown Glad to hear your aspirations. Believe it or not our community engagement plans and implementations are so 21st Century! Fantastic
@Leni_Light That’s a very good question Leni & we have a plan & are now working on funding it. We will be using local artists & designers to create community led & implemented projects. I’m excited about this because community engagement is so important when it comes to sustainability.

The UK’s Home Office is ahead of the curve compared to the US.
Partnering with Cardiff BID, we're creating an LGBTQIA+ Nighttime Research Strategy funded by the Home Office’s Safer Streets funding. The round 5 deadline is August 29th. Let's create safety and inclusivity at night together, get in contact! 🦺

@KarrieUrbanist I ❤️ that 🌳
“…it’s easy to understand why architects throughout history have fixated on trees, envying them for their strength, flexibility, graceful strategies for managing wind, and their incomparable beauty. They are like buildings, but much, much better.”

@KarrieUrbanist Always working on the imagination. Power to the Imagination, from the barricades of Paris 1968 to an Angela Davis talk (and one from me too)
@Leni_Light It was hard back then to conceive of a worse president than Nixon. A real failure of imagination.

@KarrieUrbanist living through those days, we thought the worst and best had happened. And now we have today.
There’s some amazing stuff in Daniel Ellsberg’s obit. Particularly the part where Ehrlichman attempted to bribe the judge at Ellsberg’s trial, offering him the directorship of the FBI.

The architectural and urban design professions are day-biased, even as night is a full 50% of the world’s time @Leni_Light
