Here's the problem though: Inflation and health care costs have risen faster than teacher salaries. Funding programs without funding people will only result in more tax dollars going out of state to for-profit Ed Tech companies and virtual tutors. Kids need teachers not tech.
📚 Since taking office, I’ve been working hard to put Michigan kids first – and that starts with education. This year’s budget will invest, expand, and support programs that benefit our kids from pre-k all the way to higher education. Let’s get this done!

3. When there is choice in how funding is spent, it tends to go to the students who need it the least, not the ones that need it the most. By high school, the kids from wealthier families are largely on a completely separate education track than poor kids.

It will all come down to the effectiveness of Mayor Taylor's weather shields on whether #a2schools will be open tomorrow. If the freezing rain/show stays south of A2, schools will be open. If not, count on a 5 a.m. wakeup call from AAPS. Mute your phones before going to bed.

But I'm unsure how meaningful this is if AAEA isn't going to be open to staff reduction in order to raise pay to fair levels. More money isn't coming from the state or federal government right now. Plus, #a2schools keeps losing students and the funding that comes with them. 🧵5/5
