“Are you ready for the trials?”
The Photon Trials (2024)

No new fight choreography today! Going to be reposting some stuff from my film “S.Y.N.C.” for the new audience of people (Which I highly recommend you check out if you haven’t)

Find your center, and retaliate!
Another proof of concept for the
#VRChat
short film that I’m working on called “S.Y.N.C.”
High octane action and too many fighting games for references
After many months of research on Latency, I can confidently say that our documentation on low-latency choreography is getting much closer for
#VRChat
Film!
More below 🧵!
Our studies on latency in
#VRChat
helps us sync up actors for VR Film. We had our very first successful take with our new method on the 16th of March.
This was our first reaction of its success:
Before S.Y.N.C. became a
#VRChat
short film, it underwent numerous proof of concepts.
Here are some of the very first tests of fight choreography that inspired the film!
“The Sparring Lesson” accomplished a lot despite being only a minute and a half long. It achieves real, live-action, fully synchronized fight choreography.
The impressive part?
I had a ping of 90, and my secondary actor had a ping of 240.
(Think about that for a moment)
#VRChat
After many months of study for action scenes in
#VRChat
in how to reduce latency, I can confidently say that we are close to perfecting it.
I can’t say much about it without it getting complicated but rest assured I will share everything we’ve found once we’ve truly perfected it
(Did you know?)
The Synth in my
#VRChat
short film S.Y.N.C. was originally going to be another singular fight against just one enemy with the backstory of being a “secret project” meant to be faster and more lethal
(Did you know?)
The original idea of my
#VRChat
short film S.Y.N.C. was going to be a martial arts tournament centered around Alpha’s growth to become a super weapon.
Today marks the official 1/2 birthday of my
#VRChat
short film “S.Y.N.C.” And has grown to have an astounding 30k views!!
Thank you all so much for enjoying and sharing my film!!
With the growth of my
#VRChat
short film “S.Y.N.C.”, it definitely accomplishes a lot for VR Filmmaking. You really learn a lot about the limitations that are present when you begin virtual videography in a VR setting.
I’m very happy to share forward some of our results for
#VRChat
Low-Latency Choreography since our meet last night.
We got a lot of awesome and successful takes (In such short time too!!).
More below!
Going to start working on a QnA follow up video regarding my
#VRChat
Short Film “S.Y.N.C.” soon!
(I will also be answering questions that get commented under here as well!)
Limitations Bring Creative Workarounds!
I have a very small room, but I didn’t want that to stop me from pushing limits for what can be done, so I learned a trick to fake a long consistent shot of running if you don’t show the feet. I’d say it looks good. (1/2)

Welcome to the dojo! This is “The Sparring Lesson!”
This is a VRChat short film that premiered at Furality’s Community Showcase with steady paced martial arts!
Big shoutouts to
@gab_jankums
for his camera work and
@FollowShivPls
for her body acting!
In the second scene of S.Y.N.C., the first minute of the fight when it begins has 16 attacks within a minute, this new one manages 24 in a minute.
Really revamping the fights to add more for this next
#VRChat
short! Should hopefully have something to tease soon!
If all goes well, the choreography that I'm writing could honestly be more intense than what "S.Y.N.C." was.
Can't incorporate any environmental stuff because that would be "dishonorable" in this setting. (Consider that a hint)
(Did you know?)
Despite how convincing and confident the movement is, my playspace as the actor in my
#VRChat
short film S.Y.N.C. was only possible in the default 3’x3’ stationary guardian
Our low-latency method for
#VRChat
choreography works wonders to make body acting easier when it requires multiple people.
It does have a trade off and I’ll explain more below 🧵
As we continue to work on
#VRChat
films that emphasize how we experiment with movement in our choreography, I cannot wait to test out our newer ambitions in some of our later works. Got some really awesome stuff planned!

My
#VRChat
short film “S.Y.N.C.” has a few inspirations taken from other bits of media.
This one section was inspired from a For Honor finisher with Kensei
Might make a side by side comparison of 3 Trackers v 8 trackers to show the differences in IK. Knees, Elbows and Chest tracking really bring it together

Eyes up! Your environment is your friend!
Filming with my
#VRChat
short film S.Y.N.C., I aimed to bring a little more life to choreography by incorporating the environment. Even though still just a proof of concept, the official film still makes use of. (1/2)
(Did you know)
Before filming for my
#VRChat
short film S.Y.N.C., it underwent testing for proof of concepts for approximately 3-4 months before the initial film’s official production began
This new
#VRChat
film is a little frightening with the level of ambition we’re working with.
But to be experimental and raise the bar again successfully is tricky.
(It’s discussion time 🧵)
When filming a
#VRChat
short film, there are hurdles, limitations and… breaking things…
Here’s a behind the scenes look at the ground flip in “S.Y.N.C.” that resulted in me breaking a cable pulley
