People can't point to things the government has done yet, so Labour should do a much better job of shouting from the rooftops: new airports, new power stations, reservoirs, data centres, turbines, GB energy, GB railways, mass house-building plans. Huge transformation unleashed.

⁉️Now imagine a Tory-Reform pact with these polling numbers. Some in Labour are worrying about that

What does this translate to in terms of seats won though? Surely the right being split like this would help Labour win still. Either way, Labour shouldn't panic or be blown off course due to this. Delivering results within four years is all that matters.

Musk has taken over the news because UK journalists and politicians are still utterly obsessed by Twitter, despite most of the UK not giving a flying fuck about the discourse that takes place on it.

Great piece on how the median British consumer has been saddled with a huge rise in the price of new cars over the past decade or so. This is obviously suboptimal if you were, say, a long-governing centre-right party with your voter base outside of city centres

Our new @Moreincommon_ polling for @LBC finds older voters in particular are more likely to say they regret voting for the Labour Party, with a third of baby boomers saying they regret the decision compared to 24% of voters overall. Young voters are least regretful

@fifisyms I said to my wife, it’s quite sad how they put themselves through it all and usually their plan if they win is to just go on holiday and put down a deposit on a house. Things that were once everyday things. Bit of a bleak reflection of the economy really!

The idea you’d compensate all women of the generation, including those who knew about the change (how could you prove you didn’t?), and those who are already wealthy is a ridiculous proposition, when there are young parents skipping meals so they can feed their kids.

@DPJHodges It’s not so much bad news, as just sorting the shit that needs to be dealt with one way or another. Rather than keep kicking the can until it’s the next lot’s problem (previously the Tory way), Labour are facing up to the unpopular decisions.

As someone who has minimal expectations of ever receiving the State Pension I currently pay towards each month, I'm pleased the government has decided not to spend £10bn on blanket WASPI payments.

How anyone thought that this screen should be used for a giant advert, instead of showing essential information like this, is utterly beyond my understanding.

Spot on. Now the repayment threshold is lower than the minimum wage we have to ask if it's wise to have grads working low paid jobs seeing deductions of 42% from their salary (income tax, NI, student loan and pension). Then add on out of control rents and car insurance costs.

Tony Blair recounts a ridiculous tie design procurement process for an EU summit (featuring an Italian accent). Not sure any frontline UK politician today could carry a story like that.
