The loss of life and property in LA is a tragedy brought on by the effects of climate change, winds, and dry conditions. It’s deeply wrong for anyone to politicize this instead of showing compassion for others who are losing everything. Let’s instead help Californians.

The evil murders committed by Shamsud-Din Jabbar are not an isolated matter. It is just one manifestation of deep hatred that would wreak havoc everywhere if we don’t confront it forcefully, directly and effectively.

The FBI is investigating a mass racist text that was sent to Black Americans today, including dozens of high school and college students across the country. This abhorrent behavior is not who we are as a nation. Vile and egregious rhetoric of any kind will not be tolerated.

I'm deeply disturbed by the attacks last night on Jewish soccer fans in Amsterdam so close to Kristallnacht. The normalizing of anti-Semitism is unacceptable and we must continue speaking out to ensure that everyone is free of fear in civil society.
