As a lesbian/gay woman/queer woman, I support trans rights as part of my feminism, continuing the advocacy I started in the '80s and '90s. #LGBwiththeT
Joined October 2011
@LGBwiththeT She doesn't want a "women's day of visibility", she wants a "female transphobe's day of visibility. I vote for February 31.

@sturdyAlex Absolutely right! Here's what Mark Segal(someone who was at Stonewall and not just on the sidelines) had to say.

@ysheeblack But ... but ... but ... lesbians. It was so obvious that they weren't being rejected for being gay.

@msdwrites @julianstansall @sturdyAlex @FredSargeant I worded that wrong. They didn't "stand by us"… They WERE us. Many of the trans people I knew were also LGB. It took a few years for us to be explicit in including trans needs in our activism, but the TGLRG (Tasmanian Gay and Lesbian Rights Group) never excluded trans people.

@sturdyAlex Isn't it funny how you mention trans women, black sex workers, and drag queens (all of which, at various points in her life and post death, might have been used to describe Marsha P Johnson), but our friend there responds as though you only said one thing ...

@julianstansall @sturdyAlex @FredSargeant Marsha was a trans woman, arrived late, and, yes, used drugs. So what? Fred Sargeant stood on the sidelines with his influential boyfriend before going home to push for shutting such places down. Years later, he cheered the police killing of a Black trans man.

@MsMischief2U @KittyBlowsGlass @BraddrofliT It's not charity, it's welfare. It's being responsible for the welfare of the people one is governing.

@KittyBlowsGlass @BraddrofliT Until Donald Trump, I didn't believe in the concept of the Antichrist, or the end time prophecies of which certain Christians are so fond. He does seem to be fulfilling them, though.

@L41RDY @MForstater I'd be arguing, strenuously, for changing cubicles for those who want them. I'm generally comfortable with nudity, but teen trauma around communal change rooms would have me actively preferring to get naked solo.
