Angela Rayner has announced that the remains of Grenfell Tower are to be demolished over a two-year period. The gov said it would work with the independent Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission to choose a memorial design team.

PM Keir Starmer has announced reforms to make it easier to build mini (Small Modular Reactors) nuclear power stations in England and Wales. Rolls-Royce SMR, GE Hitachi, Holtec Britain and Westinghouse Electric Company are set to build the new plants.

In response to a question about Donald Trump's Gaza policy at PMQ's, PM Keir Starmer said Palestinians "must be allowed home. They must be allowed to rebuild, and we should be with them in rebuilding on the way to a two state solution".

PM Keir Starmer hosted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz this afternoon. Starmer said he was committed to strengthening the UK’s relationship with the EU to drive greater growth and closer security ties. The meeting ahead of Starmer attending an EU leaders council tomorrow.

Total funding to police forces will be up to £17.5 billion next year, an increase of up to £1.1 billion compared to the 2024 to 2025 police funding settlement. Neighbourhood Watch and the National Police Chiefs chair have welcomed a 200 million boost to neighbourhood policing.
