Abandonment says, “You weren’t enough for me to stay.” Treachery says, “I stayed just long enough to destroy you.” One is painful. The other rewrites your whole past and makes the future feel unsafe. I’ve survived both. Somehow, I’m still here. But for how long?

Realizing that my body was failing me due to hEDS, that doctors ignored the signs, that I lost years of my life to medical negligence—and that my partner wasn’t mature enough to support me through it—has left me furious. This wasn’t a ‘journey.’ It was a betrayal.

I went to 50+ doctors. I had TWO craniotomies because my skull literally broke from normal activities. Not one doctor put the pieces together. hEDS should have been diagnosed years ago. Instead, I was left to suffer.

The worst part? Everyone expected me to just ‘move on.’ Like I didn’t just watch my body fall apart while being gaslit by the very people who should have helped me.

Being chronically ill teaches you a hard truth: some people love you until it gets inconvenient. My partner, my doctors, the people I trusted—they weren’t equipped to handle my reality. And I paid the price for their shortcomings.

I did not realize this was a life sentence. I’ve been to at least 30-40 doctors or more. Even thought at one point I was recovering… But no. Every effort was met with more loss. More than I can fathom.

I don’t want to be on a damn journey with this god forsaken illness. I want my entire life back.
