I’ve been trying to preparing myself for today but I’m already crying. It’s our first Thanksgiving without my dad. Today marks 24 weeks since COVID-19 took my his life. I’m thankful I had 30 years with him. I’m thankful for my mom’s strength. I’m thankful that I’m their daughter.

This move comes after the death of one of your employees, my dad, who returned to work on May 15.
He died in the ICU after complications from COVID-19 on June 11.
I’m on my way back to Phoenix right now so my family & I can have a socially distant celebration of life on Sunday.
To protect the health and safety of our team members and guests, Gila River Hotels & Casinos will be temporarily closing for two weeks to mitigate recent COVID-19 spikes in Arizona, effective at 2AM June 18. All team members will be on paid leave and receive benefits.

My dad was a 68-year-old diabetic & recent cancer survivor who had to return to work at an Arizona casino as soon as they could reopen on May 15.
