German #coal continues downward trend in 2024. Share of coal in power generation more than halved since 1990 to about 25% in 2023, while #Renewables now supply more than 50%. #NuclearPower was phased out 2023. @neocarbonenergy @uusiutuvat_ry

Science 384(2024)6700 discusses weapons potential of high-assay low-enriched uranium. US DOD&DOE finance >10 SMR concepts with >12% U-235 suitable to make nuclear bombs. Global spread of such SMRs leaves little opportunity to prevent nuclear proliferation. @Ilmastopaneeli1 @hsfi

#Renewable #Electricity grows fast: 2030 ca 50% of all power could be RE. Very high RE (>80%) countries include A/DK/NL/D/N/S/P. Finland in the middle (<70%), France, USA, PL in the low cat. (<40%). Interestingly DK, NL, D also strong in #hydrogen @uusiutuvat_ry @aurinkoinfo

Nature Communications (2023)14:6542 showed that a global solar tipping point may have passed where #Solar #energy gradually comes to dominate global power markets, without any further climate policies, though with some uncertainty. @aurinkoinfo @Lahienergia @Ilmastopaneeli1

IEA says #RenewableEnergy is on course to meet almost half of global #electricity demand by 2030, with #SolarPower accounting for 80% of the growth in capacity. By 2050, RE could stand for most of the power needed. #ilmasto @aurinkoinfo @Lahienergia @neocarbonenergy

IEA increased its latest #renewable forecast by 16%. From 2022 to 24, the forecast for 2027 increased by ca 75%. Especially #SolarPower has always been undermined, even today, as understanding exponential growth is difficult. @aurinkoinfo @Lahienergia @neocarbonenergy #ilmasto

Dismantling prototype nuclear plant closed 35 years ago could cost German state €1 bln. The reactor was an experimental 300 MW high temperature reactor. Decommissioning of nuclear is costly.

#RenewableEnergy will supply most of the power capacity (MW) growth in the #USA in 2024 (#Solar >60% ). In 2025, solar may exceed hydropower for the first year in history. BUT, #FossilFuels still dominate all #Electricity production (almost 60%).
