Hurricane Lane as well, what an absolute boyo that lad is, three Group 1s, a Dante, placed in a Derby and an Arc, he’s not far off having raced every month this season and every time he’s come away with his reputation even stronger, one of the most enjoyable 3yos I’ve ever seen.

Bob Olinger’s jumping is nowhere near as bad as some have made out is it?. Just rewatched both runs- Gowran he’s slightly out to his left once early, pecks at 3 out and skews the last a bit, Punchestown he doesn’t put a foot wrong. Think the stick he’s been given for it is harsh.

Never felt so disillusioned with racing as I do at the minute, hard not to feel like we’re watching the sport crumble in front of us, maybe I’ll cheer up when the jumps are back but even then .a fifth day of Cheltenham seems inevitable at some point, draining and depressing.

Without wanting to overly indulge the lads whose accas have been let down by El Fabiolo, his tendency to absolutely belt a fence has always been his main flaw. 1-5 was a scary price for that. Got away with it previously. Didn’t today. We’ve all been there. We go again tomorrow.

Does anyone still genuinely think Bryony Frost is overrated?. It was a shocking opinion from some people a year ago, it’s an even worse one now- from the front she’s a quality judge of pace, perfect balance of control and aggression, tough horses like Yala are made for her style.

Jonbon gets called overrated so much that he’s actually become underrated ahaha, he’s put away decent rivals every time he’s been asked to in races which haven’t played to his strengths, he’s not suddenly a 3-legged goat if he doesn’t win a Supreme this strong.

Was a long term goal of mine to get mesen onto the BHA Grad Scheme so very buzzin that they’ve taken us on board for the 2020 course, lucky that the natural Yorkshire charm has won a few people over so will be grafting hard to learn as much as I can over the next few months 😌.

As a sport, I think we’ve managed to convince ourselves that the strength of ill feeling is far worse than it is- apathy from current/future racing fans with consistently worsening product is a bigger danger to the long term health of the game than any sort of outside threat IMO.

See why some ppl like this but it’s not for me. Cheltenham is the only 4 days my mates pay attention to racing & I think a huge amount of that is cos it’s not clashing with other sports- if the GC’s on a Saturday, some casual sports fans will watch Jeff Stelling over the race IMO.

Bottom half budget every single season and we’ve made 3 playoffs and won FA Trophy in 5 years since gaffer been at the club, and this is probably the most unlikely of them all given how many key men we lost in the summer and the fact we don’t have a pitch 💙 up the Shay, up Milly.

The challenge for Cyrname now is surely to be prove he’s as good elsewhere- doesn’t sit right with me him being the best in training if he’s only able to produce that level of performance in such a narrow set of circumstances. A champion should be able overcome adversity.

As for the whip, there’s no successful middle ground with it- the man in the street will never have a clue about correct technique/strikes allowed so focusing on that is worthless but if we talk of it like we’re ashamed of it, people will assume it’s something to be ashamed of.

Me and Joe are looking at sorting a gc to help with this - lucky to have plenty good mates I’ve met through racing but know the social side can be hard to start with so hope ppl can find mates and ppl to talk about the game with etc, if anyone wants to be involved drop us a DM 😌.
This is something the BHA could get ahold of. Be so many ‘young’ people out there gagging to go racing but with no one to go with the desire to go is sucked out of them. Tried to think of a way to combat it myself for others but wouldn’t have the time to manage something.

Caernarfon is proper lovely little horse as well, a Cityscape filly who was only running in nurseries off 70 last autumn and has now made the frame in a pair of Classics, fair credit to Channon team for the job they have done with her.

Speaks volumes that for 99.9% of horses, even at the elite level, winning a race in this manner would be considered their most iconic victory without a shadow of a doubt. Shishkin has so many that you could have a genuine fair debate where this would rank in his top 5. Legend.
