We celebrate President Carter's national & local, endorsing DC Home Rule, sending his own child to DCPS, and building homes for low income people in Marshall Heights, and, here, with us in Ivy City. Today, we honor his legacy with a new Habitat investment in Deanwood.
As we reflect on the life and accomplishments of former President Jimmy Carter, we remember his tireless commitment to social justice and his ability to bring attention to affordable housing needs across the country. [1/4]

Prez #JimmyCarter left a global legacy of human rights with #affordablehousing at its core. At 86, he personally joined us and joined in to build homes and rebuild community. RIP @HabitatDC @MiCasaIncDC @MannaINC @DCDHCD @EmpowerDC

At its core, a #CDFI synthesizes community voices, capital, and contributions, and our colleague Beth Marcus wove together these threads with brilliance and heart. We honor her legacy in DC and across the country. Indeed, the best of us.
Beth Marcus, who passed away on 12/1, dedicated 16 years to LISC, where she led fundraising efforts to unprecedented heights. In honor of her life and legacy, current and former LISC team members reflect on her remarkable vision and compassion:

Last week, LISC DC held a holiday toast at Shanklin Hall (supported by @LISC_SI) with our Local Advisory Committee (LAC) members & other supporters. We reflected on the year, including our Project 100 initiative which is our mission to have 100 in-person engagements in 2024. 🎉

Alongside our friends @capitalimpact, LISC cherishes the opportunity to have known Ali Semir. A committed, skilled professional, and a man of purpose whose family should cherish, as we do, his contributions to DC and beyond.
We remember Ali Semir, a participant in our Housing Equity Accelerator Fellowship (HEAF) who recently passed away. His passion for affordable housing will forever inspire us. The positive impact he made will always be cherished.
