our policy birds on the road completed the jasper howl invitational! LFS HF (lena and carter) go 3-2 and narrowly miss clearing on speaks LFS GF (gilly) went 4-1 and got SECOND SPEAKER debating SOLO!! sadly, he can’t debate in elimination rounds because he went “maverick”

sadly, cooper and gilly lost a close debate to our friends from Washburn Rural and drop in the quarterfinals. it’s an excellent end to our first post-season tournament in preparation for nationals for the birds!!

the policy birds are BACK and competing at the Iowa City Cross River Classic at Iowa City West this weekend!! HF (Lena and Carter) went 3-3 and EF (cooper and gilly) went 4-2 with gilly as the 8th speaker AND are currently affirming in quarterfinals against our friends from WaRu.

Free State High School claimed the 6A four-speaker state title over the weekend, besting some of the top debaters in the state for the Firebirds’ first debate state championship since 2019.

junior/sophomore team of lena and carter finish 4-2 and break to octafinals as the 13th overall seed out of 52 teams!! they lost on a close 2-1 debate to our friends at bvn, but they are nationally qualified and will continue to compete this spring in preparation for NCFL🧑🍳🧑🍳

junior/sophomore team of sammi and trin finish 3-3 at the tournament in both of their second years of debate!! second year debate is infamously the hardest year of debate, and they have gone above and beyond in their work ethic and debating this year🔥🔥

Sophomores Will and Ewa finish 3-3 to cap out an excellent season by both and we cannot wait to see them back! This was ewa’s novice season, which means in her first ever season of policy debate, she competed in varsity divisions and had an overall winning record!!
