We were honored to welcome Spanish 🇪🇸 Army General Amador Enseñat Y Berea, Spanish Army Chief of Staff, to Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) HQ! During his visit, we discussed our new role as the Combined Forces Land Component Command. This role is pivotal in our ongoing transformation pathway, aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and strategic integration in the Land Domain. General Enseñat received an overview of our Land Tactical and Regional Plans, which are essential for maintaining readiness and ensuring cohesive defense strategies across our allied forces. In the land domain, our 32 Armies must be able to operate in any part of NATO’s vast area of operations with unity of action. Last week, leaders and planners from across the Alliance gathered in Izmir to discuss how we optimise command and control (C2) and interoperability across headquarters and across domains. LANDCOM hosted a two day ”Land C2 Symposium” which provided a forum for land domain practitioners to further develop these concepts. 2025 will be a critical year for LANDCOM to experiment with command and control while integrating new command structures. #WeAreNATO #DeterAndDefend #StrongerTogether #1NATO75years

On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, U.S. Army General Christopher Donahue assumed command of Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) from U.S. Army General Darryl A. Williams during a ceremony in Izmir, Türkiye 🇹🇷. Military leaders from across the NATO Alliance, soldiers, diplomats, and distinguished members of the local community attended the event. U.S. Army General Christopher Cavoli, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe presided over the ceremony. General Williams has served as the LANDCOM commander since August of 2022 and has provided exceptional leadership in an incredibly dynamic security environment and a period of transition. We are grateful for his four decades of military service! General Donahue is no stranger to Europe, with his experience Commanding the 82nd Airborne Division and then 18th Airborne Corps as they reacted during the initial response to Russia's illegal further invasion of Ukraine in 2022. This week LANDCOM held its Land Deputy Commanders' Conference. @RRCFrance hosted the event in Lille, France 🇫🇷 at its headquarters located in the historic Citadel of Lille. LANDCOM Deputy Commander, @JezMJBennett chaired the forum of Corps Deputy Commanders and subject matter experts across the alliance which aimed to tackle crucial issues to Land practitioners such as information advantage, command post survivability, and transformation that will further integrate Land capabilities and forces across the Alliance. An important component of NATO’s deterrence and defence posture is its military presence on the Alliance’s Eastern flank. Since 2014, Allies have enhanced NATO’s forward presence by establishing multinational battlegroups (BGs) in Bulgaria 🇧🇬, Estonia 🇪🇪, Hungary 🇭🇺, Latvia 🇱🇻, Lithuania 🇱🇹, Poland 🇵🇱, Romania 🇷🇴 and Slovakia 🇸🇰. These BGs are built around a framework nation’s core and are present at all times in the host countries. The Italian 🇮🇹 land BG in Bulgaria 🇧🇬 just concluded exercise “Centuria 24”, which consisted of live-fire exercises, new equipment employment, and multinational activities designed to enhance the tactical and operational skills of the participants. “Centuria 24” and exercises like it enhance interoperability and demonstrate our collective strength. #strongertogether #1NATO75years #fortheSoldier #deteranddefend

Over the last month, LANDCOM participated in Exercise Steadfast Duel. More than twenty NATO headquarters participated in the exercise to include our team mates at Allied Joint Force Command Naples (@JFC_Naples ). Steadfast Duel allowed LANDCOM to reinforce best practices of NATO’s land component, continue to refine regional defense plans, and experiment with the Multi-Corps Land Component Command (MCLCC) concept.
