The Imperialist project is so short sighted, displacing anti-war protests on college campuses only pushes it into the streets. If people werent watching they're watching now. Watching you punish students, beating elders and teachers, allowing violent extremists to run wild.

Apparently, 80% of protestors are not from the cities they're protesting in. That is the exact narrative and a similar percentage used by local officials to explain the roots of homelessness in their cities. Why? Because it's easier to unleash state violence on ”strangers.”

Please read and share. Our vision of public safety does not include failed strategies that have devastated our communities. We are not those organizations that in 1994 applauded the destruction of their families in exchange for access and peanuts. Safety = Refunding the Community

What the Sheriff is doing in Venice isn't "outreach"—it's a way for him to divert attention from his dismal record while he panders to wealthy homeowners who resent houseless residents, writes LA CAN Executive Director Pete White in today's @latimes :

This is why we say #Reject8CantWait today. Real talk: #8CantWait reads like something written or approved by the police. At least 5 of the 8 are currently operational in Los Angeles, and the #LAPD body count and use-of-force incidents continue to rise. #GTFOH #DONTTrussEM

The message is loud and clear. #41 .18 is nothing more than a tool of segregation. Segragation has always been enforced by a pen, baton, and bullets.

L.A. needs to stop the COVID outbreak among homeless people - Things LA Can Do: 1) Stop the Sweeps and follow CDC and WHO guidelines; 2) House ppl in City and County-owned prop; 3) Take empty hotel rooms, starting at LA Live; and, 4) Defund the Police.

🚨CALL TO ACTION🚨 Several @LACityCouncil members are ONCE AGAIN trying to revive 41.18, an ordinance that criminalizes houseless people for simply existing. This would start the mass displacement of tens of thousands of people who already have trouble accessing services.

Echo Park Community Day “was all of that and a bag of chips.” Showing back up on Tongva land, programming a day that was rooted in education, power building, recruitment, and organizing, and having fun in the sun is just what we needed. A gentrifier even called the #LAPD ! Lol

There comes a time to push, prod, nudge, cajole, negotiate, and retreat; this is not that time. Now is the time to level up, power up, replace, agitate, disrupt, and build a world that works for the masses and not the few. The power we wield is evident; let's make more.

There is an abundance of leadership in Los Angeles, mostly outside of the halls and walls of power. How I wish the integrity, vision, character, and fearlessness in these streets were mirrored by politicians inside these bastions of cowardice and corruption.

Welcome to Los Angeles: if you're Black or Brown, you can lose your life for “allegedly” taping a 1st Amendment protected sign/PIECE OF PAPER on a fence. Do you think this would've happened to gentrifiers directing folks to their picnic spot?

. @seanfeucht In Skid Row, the gospel taught by abolitionist preachers Harriet Tubman, Fredrick Douglas, and Nat Turner resonates with the freedom dreams of Black people. It is called “Liberation Theology” and supports the Black Radical Tradition. #StayAwayfromSkidRow

“Reform” and what you're looking at does not fit in the same sentence, story, volume. You're witnessing a culture of violence and chaos on full display. They are accountable to no one, and the only corrective action is to disrupt and dismantle. #WeArentSafe #NotforUs #LetsGetFree

Judge Carter's recent order would compromise the safety of unhoused women by forcing them into a shelter system that is rife with management problems and unsanitary conditions. We spoke with Skid Row residents about some of their experiences in local shelters (THREAD):

You remove toilets and hand washing stations in the midst of a pandemic. You create an ordinance that makes it impossible to occupy public space if you’re houseless, a street vendor, or simply someone that does not fit your detached vision of Los Angeles.
