Misconceptions about LD that must be eradicated in order for the sport to realize full potential (in descending order of importance) 1 “oh you just use juiced up drivers” 2.”Long pga hitters could beat u guys 3.”you guys are juiced up meatheads 4.”you guys can’t play golf well”

Great to see golf channels YouTube video “top 5 shots from 2018 wldc” rocketing past 100k views in less than a week. Very soon the top 4 most viewed videos on golf channels YouTube page will be LD related. And people try to say nobody is impressed/watches LD? Lol

Imo it’s been a phenomenal year for LD, thanks to golf channel and the efforts of everybody associated. Here’s some things I hope are implemented next year 1. No split ob points 2. Two piece ball 3. Incentive for top 4 in rd of 16 4. Minimum grid width of 50 yds

Some great viewership statistics.. Viewership is up 70% vs last year BEFORE viewership for worlds this year is even factored in. There is a 70% ratings jump yoy vs last year only including this year’s tour stops Total viewership this year not including worlds? Nearly 6,000,000

@LDSheriff @WorldLongDrive I started using the towel early in qualifying as a mat to keep my golf balls from getting wet from the dew on the tee in the early rds and continued out of habit. It never occurred to me that it might seem like an alignment aid. I won’t use the towel in that fashion tomorrow.

Why shouldn’t the max driver length be 45 inches? -distance loss is very low (tested it and avg loss was 4.5 yards) -much more accurate -less wear and tear on body as it’s not being swung as fast and doesn’t weigh as much as a 48 -more relatable to the common golfer who hits a 45

An interesting metric I learned today at the golf channel. Not only have LD event tv ratings been competitive with the ratings this year, but the reruns have had virtually the same viewership. Hopefully this fact gets reflected in the purses next year.

@LDSheriff @WorldLongDrive The reason I was “positioning” the towel was bc Shane said the entire towel had to be behind the ball and I moved it until he was ok with where it was. My last intention is for people to think I’m intentionally using an unfair advantage against the spirit of competition

Why does LD have huge potential? This sport has more entertainment value than regular golf for many people. I guarantee you more people stop and watch a top 100 LD’er on the range more often than a top 100 pro. NOT taking anything away from PGA golfers at all just to be clear....

@LDSheriff Long drivers considering entering into any events promising lucrative money payouts should abide by the rule “if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is”

I think the perfect field size for LD tour events is 48. This allows 3 groups of 16 in prelims. Take the top 5 out of each with a shootout between the 6th place guys for the last spot. Then you do another rd of 16 with top 8 making it to match play.

....PGA golfers are the creme of the crop and I have respect beyond measure for those who have made it to the PGA. However, even those guys will stop hitting just to watch somebody like Sadlowski hit balls. The key is changing public perception of the sport, which will be gradual

@LDSheriff @WorldLongDrive So essentially the masters division guys are not only providing live sports content (this category of tv content also has the highest cpm for commercial advertising) but they are also paying to do so. So unfair for the masters guys.

@LDSheriff @MitchellDobbyn @WorldLongDrive I’m a fan of the 45inch shaft limit. If we are swinging clubs that are if anything, SHORTER than the pga guys to me that would make it much easier to gain respect from the masses. Distance losses will be minimal with more shots in play and more OEMS can enter the sport

@ChrisKirk199 @PGATOUR I’ve played competitive golf my whole life. I’ve played division one golf. I’m not taking anything away from them as I said. It’s just in my experience some people love seeing raw power just like some people (including me) love seeing great shots under pressure

@LDSheriff Keep the top 32 exempt and then have a qualifier with up to 36 entries for the last 16 spots, anyone can sign up for the qualifier. This will eliminate the ridiculous barriers to entry that exist currently

@LDSheriff I think it’s right where it needs to be. If you can have a goose egg in 40% of your sets and still be in the top 3 I’d say you deserve to go to worlds. The reality is the further you hit it, the harder it is to hit it in bounds. I think 0 points is sufficient punishment for ob

@watchinuhit1 @LDSheriff @MitchellDobbyn @WorldLongDrive Public respect leads to increased avenues for the sport to grow. The amount of times I’ve heard people say “oh you only hit it further bc you have a longer club” is staggering. Change to 45 and nobody can say a word about us. They’ll just sit back in awe and watch

@LDSheriff @WorldLongDrive Linking up with a philanthropy such as a hospital or charity is a win win. Will bring positive PR to ld and bring a great crowd whilst helping those in need and doing good. Exactly what the pga does

@ROBOPTI I’m gonna do my best to try to get golf channel to at least consider adopting the 45 inch shaft limit, among other things. This sport has so much potential and I want to see it realized

@LDSheriff Reinstate last chance qualifying and tour event qualifiers. Eliminate points in wldc qualifying. This gives an incentive for people to qualify for the tour events to gain ranking points and in the end if they choose not to pursue tour events they can still qualify via last chance

@PatrickRaberLD @JakeTaylor400yd @LDSheriff @carlwolter1 The only problem is that is the ONLY route currently. Patterson took that route. I got in just in time to be able to compete in tour events after my qualifier. I was the last top level player who was spared from the barriers to entry

@LDSheriff @JakeTaylor400yd @PatrickRaberLD @carlwolter1 Agreed. 48 men for 16 spots. Seeded based on world ranking into three 16 man fields. Typical round robin is played. Top 5 out of each grouping move on (shootout at 6th place for last spot). If you don’t move on, you’re not good enough. No excuses. No barriers to entry

@LDSheriff Yea and it’s a shame. Guys like Koch could absolutely hang with us and cash out here. But bc golf channel has a system in place that blocks guys like him from competing, he is forced to resort to this kind of stuff to make his way into the top 50

@LDSheriff @JakeTaylor400yd @PatrickRaberLD @carlwolter1 My guess is 50% of the top 20 would remain standing. Let’s hope golf channel institutes the tour qualifiers at the tv events next year. 48 men for 12 spots. The amount of people who would pay 375$ to have a shot at being on live tv is stupid
