Media houses don't do research and cause havoc all around. Definitely economic slowdown is affecting hiring but the way it is presented causes stress among Indian parents and students more than anything.
In 2018-19 , 30.03% of students were unplaced at IIT Bombay because not every student who registers for placement is bound to participate in it.
In 2019-20, 32.35% of students were unplaced at IIT Bombay because PPOs are not counted in this calculation.
I texted this Apple Recruiter in April 2022 on LinkedIn for a job in US location.
He finally replied to me today with a link to their careers portal. ☺️
For a vacancy of ~20 engineers at Flipkart, over 4 lakh students applied...💯

Phase 1 of 2023-24 Placement season is over with 36% students unplaced, definitely lower than historical average but not very far. Many students are pursuing different career options and startup culture is also at it's peak in India.
10 Lakh Base Pay is actually a very decent pay to start a career!
But unfortunately, Students ignore many opportunities because they are not aware of such companies❤️
