Last week, our students Matt and Matilda went to Auschwitz-Birkenau camp as part of their Lessons from Auschwitz Project, which was an incredibly harrowing and meaningful experience. We are so proud of Matt and Matilda, who conducted themselves with maturity and sensitivity.

Our Student Leader, Harley, was thrilled to see our parents diving into "Verity" by Colleen Hoover for the Parental Book Club. Inspired by this, Harley has recommended two more fantastic reads by Colleen Hoover: "It Ends with Us" and "It Starts with Us."

In a busy night of fixtures, our Year 8 and 10 netball teams welcomed Friary on Wednesday. Both teams showed resilience and teamwork throughout, demonstrating Kingsmead's values. We are very proud!

Local History Enrichment was honoured to have a special guest visit from Mr Saunders who shared his memories of Kingsmead along with some photos from the 1940s. A Year 7 student also bought in a Kingsmead magazine from 1969 featuring a staff photo with a young Mr Saunders!

The U13 girls football team played in a mini tournament at Kingsmead against Cheslyn Hay and Chase Terrace this week. The team was depleted due to illness and injury and even though the results did not go our way the girls battled on with determination giving 100%.⚽

With less than a week to go, our Futures Fayre is just around the corner! We are offering students a chance to discover the endless possibilities out there for them after their Kingsmead journey. This event will be running from 2pm, with Parents welcome to attend from 3.30pm.

The Year 9 netball team played some excellent netball last night, beating Chase Terrace and The Hart school 7-3 and 10-6 respectively. They had to work hard in both games to get the wins, with their resilience paying off. Well done girls 👍👏

Yesterday our Year 10 students had an assembly focused on the world of Apprenticeships! They learnt about different industries that offer apprenticeships, the benefits of gaining real-world experience and how apprenticeships can lead to exciting careers.

On Sunday, Elle competed in the Liverpool Open Karate Competition Elle came away with bronze in her current category 10-12 years female kata, and silver medal in 13-15 years female kata which she will move into in the spring! Well done!

In light of Holocaust Memorial Day on Monday, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, the History department are very proud that two Y12 students, Matthew and Matilda, will be taking part in the Lessons from Auschwitz (LFA) Project.
