“Modern medicine is full of prejudice, illogic and susceptible to advertising.
Doctors are not taught to reason.....over the past 20 years, drug companies, with their enormous wealth, have taken medicine over and now control its research, what is taught."
- Dr. Abram Hoffer
I wish to string together a thread 🧵 of something toxic many Kenyans - or Africans for that matter - are oblivious about.
It’s about vegetable oils.
So thread may hurt some foodie enthusiasts, pizza, crisps, chips and other fried food aficionados
Here goes……👇🏽
'Bigamist' British Army sergeant, 42, who married a 2nd woman in Kenya when he hadn't divorced his first wife claims he 'didn't understand what was happening' - because the ceremony was in Swahili
I don’t know how some of these developers - like this one in Ruiru - who build 10m from a major railway line get building approvals.
Whose fault is it? The County’s, or
@ncakenya
’s?
Stumbled on a spot today in Kamakis that sells “uji power”.
What was it, I asked.
A delicious uji made from a mix of yams, cassava, sweet potatoes and nuts, they said.
It was the most delicious uji I’ve ever tasted. My peeps liked it, too
I’ll certainly go back there.
In the next 10-20 years, many will want to settle as far from the congested, unplanned city of Nairobi as possible.
Nanyuki, Makuyu, Sagana, Emali and Loitokitok (with her hot Kilimanjaro views) will be prime for “controlled development” gated communities.
Nairobi has failed.
Selling Kenya Seed Company, too?
If you look at societies that have been sickened by bad food, and look at who supplies the food, then you realize Kenya Seed Company should really NOT be sold to businesspeople.
Fear Monsanto.
Treasury has listed the following companies to be privatized:
—Kenya Pipeline
—Kenya Literature Bureau
—KICC
—National Oil Corporation
—Kenya Seed Company
—Mwea Rice Mills
—Western Kenya Rice Mills
—New KCC
—Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers
—Rivatex
—Numerical Machining Complex
The four healthy cooking fats that are recommended are:
- Tallow
- Grass-fed ghee
- Grass-fed butter
-Coconut oil.
Extra virgin oil and avocado oils aren’t to be heated but should be applied on food or salads.
The EU won’t accept visitors from Kenya as the bloc doesn’t recognize the Astra Zeneca vaccine.
Ironically, a European country (Denmark) donated over 300,000 doses of the same vaccine to Kenya….
There should be no pretense. This is one of numerous extortionist cases around the country. For this lady to have come out daringly like this, she must have had enough.
Successive governments in Kenya behave as if the only meal that can be eaten is maize, and blame shortages of the grain on harsh weather patterns.
Cassava is more nutritious, and can be grown in more than half the country, all year round, as it is a hardy crop.
A prominent real estate firm has turned chunks of a pristine, idyllic part of Naro Moru into 50x100 plots, giving it alluring names like “Wema Gardens”.
Incredible. 50x100s? What happened to ample, greened space?
Kenya’s best parts are being turned into future cement slabs.
A favourite paediatrician who normally attends to my kids and works at a leading children’s hospital says she recently resigned due to overbearing “patient turnover and prescriptive drug targets…”
Who will cure medicine?
Vegetable oils are also known as seed oils. They’re also misleadingly referred to in Kenya as "mafuta ya salad". This post is about factory-made cooking oils.
Unlike, say, sugar, the toxic substances in vegetable soils stay in our bodies for years, sometimes up to 7yrs.
I’m distressed when sharing the following information 👇🏽 as a 🧵.
This is as much about our sovereignty as it is about our wellbeing. Americans don’t care about Kenyans. Don’t be deceived by diplomacy.
Kenyan poultry farmers say they risk losing Sh172 billion annually if the US is allowed to export finished poutry products to Kenya under trade partnership.
Farmers expect 75% reduction in demand for local poutry products
Depending on where one in sub-Sahara Africa comes from, these industrial vegetable oils include Rina, Ufuta, Canola, Zamgold, D'lite, KtC, Ole, Fresh Fri, Golden Fry, Kimbo and Elianto, among many others.
Margarines fall in this toxic category, too.
3. Procter and Gamble was fined about US$20million when authorities learnt that they bribed the American Heart Association to "endorse" their seed oils as "healthy".
If seed oils are indeed healthy, why promote them through graft? As we say in Kenya, kizuri chajiuza.
4. Soon, these fats, animal foods really, would be endorsed as fit for human consumption as well. They quickly started replacing the traditional cooking fats used by our ancestors, eg tallow.
1. They are referred to as vegetable oils. For the most part, they have NOTHING to do with vegetables.
2. Salads are healthy. Why industrial seed oils have been labeled 'mafuta ya salad' could be a clever marketing spin intended to convince you that the oils are healthy….
Some have suggested I should have described what makes seed oils toxic.
They cause free radical damage to our cells that in turn lead to heart disease and cancer, as well as trigger metabolic disorders (read insulin resistance)
But here’s a simple explanation.
Is there a reason why authorities around the world are moving to ban or avoid fluoridated tap water? At least 90% of countries in the west have banned fluoride in tap water.
Is there something no-fluoride toothpaste manufacturers know that we don’t?*
A thread 🧵:

1. God put oils in seeds. To counteract the harmful, oxidative part of those oils, God put Vitamin E in those seeds. Vitamin E is intended to counteract any harmful effects.
Factories that process seed oils interfere with this creator's chemistry, and make them worse.
Why these oils have not been banned speaks to the power their manufacturers wield with health and standardization authorities.
What should alarm you even if the science of seed oils sounds complex?
President Uhuru Kenyatta will next week play host to Ms. Kersti Kaljulaid, president of Estonia, a country that is arguably the most progressive e-society on the planet.
Today, vegetable oils and margarines are in kitchens of nearly every Kenyan home. Our ancestors survived without them.
But let’s look at how they ended up in our kitchens 👇🏽.
In summary, seed oils aka vegetable oils were designed for paint production, and later for fattening animals (now humans).
They are toxic, increase inflammation in the body, leading to cancer, heart diseases & metabolic disorders.
On this day 45 years ago, a rescue mission that was planned to last 60 minutes did actually take place, and lasted 59 minutes.
Some people have called it Operation Entebbe, others Operation Thunderbolt. It’s arguably the world’s most daring hostage rescue mission.
2. In the 1950s, paint was made from soy, safflower, sunflower and flax seed oil. Chemists discovered they could make paint from petroleum, which was much cheaper.
There were huge numbers of farmers who grew these crops. Suddenly, they realized they could not sell.
Know of a loved one suffering from a chronic illness, eg cancer, arthritis, acidity, diabetes, etc? Put them off seed oils.
Sadly, foods served in hospital wards are cooked using seed oils. You’ll also spot packets of packed juice in diabetes wards, too.
The industry is sick.
Dr. Ray Peat was an American scholar with a Ph.D. in biology who dedicated over half a century to investigating the relationship between nutrition, hormones, and health. This is what he said about seed oils.
This has been my concern about housing development in Nairobi, brought out illustratively by Maddo.
Kileleshwa is definitely one of a number of neighbourhoods that will be affected.
Two thirds of EU countries banned GMO foods, the growing of which also increases use of pesticides that turn those very foods toxic.
Personally, I don’t trust anything that is based on alteration of how nature intended it. Nature has a perilous way of fighting back.
TIP 💡💡
Few know that besides eating the fruit, you can boil the peels of pineapple in water, cool the water off and drink it.
It’s quite refreshing, is packed with Vitamin C, aids in weight loss, strengthens teeth and bones and is also rich in Manganese.
BTW, packing seed oils in transparent containers such as these lets in light, which leads to further oxidation of the oils.
Oxidation leads to formation of further harmful compounds in our bodies.
3. Around the same time, farmers were experimenting with certain poisons to make their pigs get fatter, but with less food. It was discovered that corn and soy beans could achieve this. Legally.
So industrial seed oil previously used for paint were repurposed for animal food.
5. To assuage consumers’ concerns that the oils were fattening, manufacturers began to label their seed oils with "No Cholesterol" tags as a marketing gimmick to hoodwink the market.
Seed oils are 2nd to heavy smoking and obesity in the rankings of habits posing the greatest risk in mortality. Interestingly, seed oils cause obesity in the first place!
Pls share widely.

ThREADed Lessons:
In 1967, Israel went to war with the joint Arab armies of Egypt, Jordan and Syria.
The Arabs boasted 800 aircraft - mostly Russian - against Israel’s 250 or so aircraft, primarily French mirage fighters (U.S. had stopped supplying Israelis with jets).

KMC has, and select Naivas stores. Also a few vendors peddling the fat on Instagram.
KMC sells at 200/- per kg, with minimum purchase of 18kgs.
British soldiers in Kenya forced into having unprotected sex with prostitutes in 'coin-tossing' initiation ceremonies to prove how 'brave' they are. Defence chiefs now alarmed by high rates of HIV/AIDS.
I was taught that you can tell the vibrancy of an economy by how quickly the stocks of cement are moving. Bamburi’s YoY earnings have dipped by 25%, hence this profit warning.
We pray for better days ahead.
Oh. And I don’t deal in or sell any healthy fats. So I don’t have “vested interests” in sharing the thread.
I’ve RT tweets shared with me of entities dealing in tallow and other healthy oils.
Does city planning in Nairobi exist any more? Take Gitanga Road, for example.
One wonders if a traffic impact assessment was done before approval to construction of malls (also apartments) was granted.
Short thread:
One interesting phenomenon I learnt today.
Thanks to Covid-19, many Japanese are unwilling to use metro-rail services. So they’re clinging to their cars.
Thousands of miles away in Kenya, this has adversely affected the car import market. Worse - the shilling depreciated.
@sarahkimani
I’ve held that view. And I think it was “re-engineered” from a prototype vaccine that was being researched on in anticipation of a deadly flu outbreak. Others viz. Moderna, Pfizer etc. were built from scratch based on the virus’s mRNA.
Romelo Lukaku is probably Europe’s most polyglot (able to speak multiple languages) professional football player.
Besides French and Flemish, he also speaks English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Lingala.
Folks, when you stumble on baobab powder at a supermarket…….stop. And buy. For your kids. Aging parents. Self.
Take in a glass of water. Or porridge. A smoothie even. Oats even better.
This is the second of such exposé in about as many years.
I remember
@DennisOkari
also had a story on the toxicity of the meat being sold in supermarkets.

There has been a brewing “crisis” of neglect of indigenous minorities. They don’t have a voice where decisions are made for anything of socio-economic value, and so one will be forgiven for not expecting then to be patriotic.
Often I tell my doc friends about how medicine was ‘contaminated’ in the ‘20s by Big Pharma.
There’s arguably no sicker, more corrupt industry than pharma. And this doc bares it all, explaining how treatment of diabetes is naturally available but “it’s not profitable to cure”.
Be on watch in this region in the next few days. A fluctuation on 21 April marked the same region to the east as on 29 January, before the major earthquakes on 6 February.
A friend of mine was hospitalized recently for a brain tumour. He has improved lately. I suggested to his wife that she considers cayenne pepper for him.
No, a doctor told her. It will trigger acidity.
The irony? Cayenne is an effective antidote against acidity, ulcers.

If you understood it, this is certainly not a DCI matter. Debt obligations are a civil rather than a criminal matter.
Even when landlords get police on the chase of defaulting tenants, that’s corruption in the form of malicious prosecution. It has no basis in criminal law.
@mabruki_
There’s overwhelming evidence. Remember some “experts” post info to defend industry. Some of the info they use to defend seed oils are based on observational (that is, questionnaire) studies, which aren’t dependable.
The actual evidence of seed oil effect can’t be cheated.
Recently I read about a study that suggested that the more junk one ate, the weaker their gut feel - yes, that 6th sense - became.
A daily yesterday quoted a retired Mau Mau man as saying that they ate leaves and fruits and discovered they could sense distant smells and sounds.

Have a look at how others do it: speed cameras installed, with warnings of speed cameras, say, 500m before. Automatic speed ticket (with severe fines) when cameras detect speeding above required limit at the camera.

This incident is now widely reported. Contrary to the impression created in the video, news agencies reported that the guy who got knocked out was at some point just as unruly, and goaded his wife as she assailed the black man.

Are went making a big deal out of this?
Days ago, the Foreign Office said dignitaries including Heads of State would be ferried in buses (Biden got some exception).
Even the Japanese Emperor is excited about being ferried in a “crowded bus”.
😄 An eminent member of an international NGO with interests in medical research had predicted that Africans would “drop dead like flies” if Covid-19 reached our shores.
On Wednesday this week, Kenya’s Parliament, whilst discussing the budget, endorsed imposition of value added tax (VAT) on medical oxygen.
Speak of paying taxes through the nose, literally, or being taxed to death.
I think the country needs to revisit and strengthen the criteria for appointment of IEBC commissioners.
Whatever the case in the current saga, we are in need, I think, of a Patriots Act in Kenya.
