@Jacob16Roy @FreddieBailey96 Offshore banking to deliberately avoid taxes is illegal & is the Govts job to go after it. Offshore banking to diversify investments/protect assets is legal. Also, HMRC estimates the entirety of hidden money in offshore banking that avoids taxes is £36 Billion, not £120 Billion.

@RedTrotsky @FreddieBailey96 If you think the Tories were right-leaning, there's no helping you. The Tories may have introduced UC, but welfare for those refusing to work has existed for decades, & you already know that. The name is irrelevant, what's relevant is the fact that the warfare state needs to end.

@RedTrotsky @FreddieBailey96 According to the state, they are owed, yes. It isn't contrary to my earlier statement, as that was a personal opinion. Also, my hopes are very relevant. With every legitimate poll suggesting a right-leaning Government at the next election, they're indeed a reality.

@RedTrotsky @FreddieBailey96 The laws of the land can change. With an ageing population, and too few workers funding the ingrained laziness of those claiming UC, there's a very high probability of it changing.

@PoshAndProud1 @FreddieBailey96 Correct. The cost of avoidance is even lower. HMRC estimates it at around £1.8 billion per year.

@PeterVWha @FreddieBailey96 That's an issue, yes. Tax evasion is wrong, but for the OP to make out that it is a bigger issue than UC is economic illiteracy. Also, cash is dying out at an alarming rate so that's a non-issue in a few years.

@RedTrotsky @FreddieBailey96 I'd prefer to not subsidise either. Neither of them are owed a thing.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) estimates that tax evasion costs around £5 billion a year. Universal Credit costs £78 billion+ a year and growing. Hardly comparable.
I'll never understand how some people have an issue with people claiming Universal Credit receiving like £250 a month but not with billionaires avoiding billions in taxes.
