I’ve been recognised by staff on placement an absurd amount recently and it’s blown my mind. F1/2s, physios, surgeons, and consultants have all been positive and encouraging about my online presence. Love this support from other healthcare professionals - thank you!
Just finished my first weekend on call as an FY1. A lot of scary moments and felt like my brain was running 110% for 3d straight. Spent a decent chunk of it alone but really thankful for the support from senior docs & other staff. NWD tomorrow here we come 👨🏻⚕️
This is outrageous. You’re telling me an allied healthcare professional (obviously competent in their respective field) somehow now also possesses the skills of a doctor on a random “strike day” and on top of that is being offered >1.5x pay for the exact same shift a doctor…
So here we have
@UHNM_NHS
offering AHP’s a higher hourly rate than they offer Junior Doctors to ‘act as a junior doctor’ over the upcoming strike action dates…

Don't be hard on yourself if things aren't going perfectly your way.
In life, experimenting and trying new things is more important than never making mistakes.
Just woke up and instead of getting out of bed I decided to scroll through my phone for the first time in like 3 years. Then I ordered breakfast to the house... while still in bed. What is life
In medical school, there is no space for toxic competition 🙅🏻♂️
You could be using that same amount of time and energy into sharing knowledge and learning to improve your skills.
Everyone can help themselves so much more by just working collaboratively.
Allowing yourself to feel upset about a bad exam result is OK.
Just make sure that you move forward and identify what went wrong and how you can fix it next time ❤️
Over the years I’ve learnt that without friends, family, partners etc, nothing else is fun.
No matter what your successes are, you need people to share them with to fully appreciate them.
Most of us often complain about not having time to do the things we want, but is our schedule really that crazy or are we just not prioritising what’s important? 🤔
When feeling burnt out do something that you love that makes you happy
When you come back round to studying you'll feel calmer and ready to take on the challenge
Yes I made an entire video about coffee. Yes I drank 5 cups of coffee in 2 hours. Yes it was a horrible idea. You can watch it all unfold here: Coffee, Caffeine, & Beans - a love story
I got allocated my

preference for foundation training as a junior doctor 👨🏻⚕️
Of course, I did the most reasonable thing I could do: secretly recorded my family’s reaction to this news and edited it into a snappy video with dramatic music ->
Exams can be a very anxiety-inducing experience.
The one thing that always calms me down is knowing that I’ve done enough studying to be okay with myself.
As long as you’ve done your best, then there is nothing more you can do.
Everyone burns out.
How you deal with it is what matters.
Take some time away, socialise, talk to your support network, try anything that will help you feel back on track 💪
When you have a lot of study material to get through, you need to have discipline, discipline and more discipline.
Have a set number of hours a day where you want to study and make sure you stick to it 🚀
Week in the Life of a Doctor video 9 years in the making 🩺
Opening up about my experiences during the first month working as a doctor - the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I hope you find it helpful 🙂
If you know you’ve worked as hard as you could for an exam, then you have nothing left to stress about.
As long as you’re happy with yourself that’s all that matters. Everything else is out of your control.
Sometimes you need to make a deal with yourself to ensure that you’re gonna get things done on time.
It’s like you shake your own hand and say that you’re gonna complete the tasks that you need to do within the time that you’ve given yourself to do them 🤝
What’s the real goal of being productive?
For me, it’s getting to do all the things I want to do in my life.
Efficiency, time management and productivity are key to helping you live a more balanced life and do the things you love 🙌🏼
If you purposely set aside time to do something that you enjoy, you won’t constantly be thinking about it whilst you study.
This is because you’ve either already done it or you know that it’s waiting for you later.
I got allocated to my foundation school today. Editing a video of mine and my family’s reactions that I think you’ll really like - stay tuned for a bonus video on Sunday!
Distractions are inevitable. This is why your surroundings are everything.
Turn off notifications, leave your phone in another room and build an environment where you can stay focused 💪
If you’re constantly forgetting the things you need to do, don’t worry, you’re not alone.
Your brain is made for coming up with ideas, not for storing and remembering them later on.
This is why we take notes to store information.
Keep this in mind next time you’re struggling🙌🏼
Throughout my time as a medical student, I’ve learned that everybody will have different priorities and ways to allocate their time.
What works for me might not work for them, and that's okay.
Everyone should do what makes them comfortable and happy with themselves.
Here are 2 ways that have helped me prevent procrastination 👇🏼
1. Set a time for yourself to get work done and promise yourself that you’ll get it done at that time.
2. In between now and the time you have set for yourself to start studying, do something fun that you enjoy.
When I started my YouTube channel, I spent any free time I had focusing on just that.
I soon realised I was sacrificing a lot of other big things in my life.
Self-development is important, but not when it leaves the important people in your life behind.
When it comes to stress, it’s important to identify what coping strategy works best for you to keep it under control.
Try not to let it build up over time. Trust me, it will catch up with you.
How do you personally handle stress?
It’s unrealistic to think we can maintain a perfect balance of all the different elements in our lives.
When things feel unbalanced, I ask myself if I’m doing what’s best.
If the answer is no, I shift my focus to where my time will make the most difference in my life.
My video uploading drought is over! 😁
I’m back with a brand new (banger) vlog that you can check out right over here:
An EXTREMELY Productive Day in My Life
interchangeable is simply unsafe for patients. Honestly just deflated seeing how little this country values it’s doctors after a set of tough nights where I drained myself to provide good patient care. For £19 an hour. Do better.
would be doing. What an absolute joke. Why does this country continue to devalue the profession of a doctor.
I don’t “act” as a pharmacist or a nurse on my shift because I’m not trained to do so and I don’t have the competency. To think we are somehow…
Not getting enough sleep each night? 😳 Or maybe you're sleeping in too much? 😴
From whatever time I decide to call it a night, wherever I am, I give myself 7-8 hours of complete rest, and that gives me enough fuel for the next day.
When you have a lot of study material to get through, you need to have discipline.
Have a set number of hours a day where you want to study and make sure you stick to it 🚀

on the pod - we chat about how he’s grown to nearly 1M YouTube subscribers while studying at medical school, what therapy’s taught him about time management, and what it means to live a meaningful life in 2022 👉
An unpopular opinion that will significantly improve your sleep is limiting your phone use before bed 💤
Watching content that stimulates your brain will cause you to stay up for longer.
Perhaps more impressive than graduating medical school, after 5 years of living in London I finally got a coffee on the house from
@Pret
Achievement unlocked 🏆
I was about to not include BG music in this weeks upload because it’s “ a bit of a hassle” and after hours of editing adding the finishing touches can be tiring 😓 I bit the bullet and I found it - and what a difference it made. Reminder to myself that it’s always worth it 🚀
Here’s your vitals check-in 👇🏼
Are you eating well? Are you sleeping well? Are you exercising regularly?
If the answer is no, try and change up your routine to significantly improve your productivity levels.
They may be obvious, but they’re essential for your wellbeing 🔋
I don't know about you, but the idea of doing one thing non-stop can be overwhelming and do more damage than good most of the time!
Try this instead to avoid burning out 👇
Sometimes when it comes to information, less is actually more 🙌🏼
Always pick quality over quantity to avoid feeling overwhelmed and stick to the resources that will help you out the most.
The KharmaKast 🎙
Laid back conversations with some of your favourite creators where I learn as much as I can in an hour or less ⏰
The first episode with Rachel Southard is already live! You can check it out on Spotify, Apple, Google Podcasts and YT 🔗
One of the best things I did for my MH was cut my following list from around 500 to 100 on my personal account and keep my KharmaMedic account to about 20. Genuinely life changing.
ALWAYS overestimate how long something might take you ⏰
Getting this wrong can really impact your plans and lead you to fall behind schedule.
Try and time yourself + then add an extra 15 minutes to that task so you can plan ahead and be more efficient with your time 🙌🏼
Want to learn a new skill?
Just 30 minutes a day for a year would likely put you into top 20% of most crafts. That’s 180+ hours.
Don’t underestimate the power of small steps.
Just spent 2.5h editing and exporting a 25m 4K video in FCP on the plane with the screen pretty bright and my M1 Pro MacBook still has 40% battery. That’s nuts 🥜
One of the main things med science has taught me is how to speak to people.
When talking to patients, you need to make sure that you’re making them feel comfortable.
The same applies to the people in your life.
Think twice about how you talk to them and which words you choose.
Sometimes we need to take a step back and realise that just because it takes us a little longer to get things done, it doesn’t mean we're failing.
@AliAbdaal
Pomodoro timers don’t always work.
They can lead to long breaks, making it harder to get into a good study flow.
They can still be effective if you’re struggling to get into the study zone or have to complete tasks you don’t want to do, otherwise, they can be quite distracting.
There’s a real difference between being busy and being effective with your time.
Being busy means dragging out tasks and tricking your mind into thinking you’re being productive.
Being effective means choosing one task and doing it as efficiently as possible 🙌🏼
We all need sleep to survive, but sometimes sleeping too much can take you away from all the tasks and things that you want to accomplish in the day 😴
Find the right amount of sleep for you!
Ever heard of the Time-Blocking technique?
Essentially, if you know a task is going to take you a certain amount of time because you told yourself that it would, then you’re more likely to complete it in that time!
