Stuart Humphryes does us all a remarkable service, restoring and sometimes colouring very old photographs. This is history slammed right before our eyes in the present day. Mesmerising.
I thought you might possibly like to see the fully enhanced & cleaned photograph I worked on, of Crimean war-wounded in 1855? They are an amazingly contemporary-looking bunch, considering these men were actually born in the 1820s & 30s.

Beautiful. Who knew this was ever a thing? the bass knife seems a little worse for wear, a reputation basses have never managed to shrug off.
