Now I get to hang with ALL of my friends! The high school friends (DGS) and the college friends (
@AmyMarxkors
and
@ChrisRongey
) which is sometimes weird at first but everyone gets used to it.
Hahaha.
With today's HOF ballot announcement just wanted this out there:
David Ortiz career bWAR 55.3
Scott Rolen career bWAR 70.1 (52.8 offensive WAR)
How is one guy a likely first ballot selection while the other is still fighting for votes?
Because it's a popularity contest.
So...I guess I have an announcement to make.
As of today I'm back full-time with my fam
@KMOXSports
! I couldn't ask for a better landing spot with so many of my friends still around from when I was there 2006-2013.
This is perfect. Psyched! There is only one KMOX...

Since Game 6 was on tonight...here’s my view for the last several innings.
Best baseball game I’ve ever seen.
(yes, I was working - studio just underneath the green seats)
If I could make one thing magically happen in hockey it would be that Nashville never scores another goal at home. Ever.
Fan base is passionate but they’re more annoying than a drunk, staggering frat guy on a Friday night.
Pipe down Biff.
Best celebration. Ever.
Yeah,
@StLouisBlues
!!!
Congrats Tom Stillman, Doug Armstrong, Craig Berube, the players, Blues alumni, broadcast crews, fans witnessing this, the fans who never got to witness this...EVERYONE!
And my boy
@chriskerber
you’re the best!
I know the big story is taking a loss instead of a win but I just can’t get over Wainwright’s performance. Before the season there’s no way I thought he’d be doing this.
I was wrong.
Pretty amazing.
Just ran into Rams owner Stan Kroenke at Starbucks. He was very upbeat about the future of his team and highly complimentary of the Patriots defensive game plan in the Super Bowl.
#Rams
#Patriots
#SuperBowl
And this right here is an example of why umpires should have to sit through press conferences after games when they make calls like this. Explain it, answer questions. None of this pool reporter comes in and asks the guys behind the scenes b.s.
Face the music.
Miles Mikolas has been ejected from today's game for hitting Ian Happ with a pitch. Happ previously knocked off Willson Contreras' mask on his back swing, injuring Contreras and removing him from the game.
#STLCards
Finally, the most important part:
Thank you all.
I appreciate every single person who listened (and there were a lot of you!) and that has nothing to do with whether or not you agreed with me or not. Lord knows I like a good fight.
Just know you are appreciated.
Some baseball nerd/fun talk on Nolan Gorman and Jordan Walker. This is NOT a critique of Walker, this is a comp that shows why hitting the ball in the air matters.
(I think Walker will eventually hit the ball in the air more and fulfill his potential)

14 months ago Poncedeleon’s life was in danger.
Today he throws 7 no-hit innings in his MLB debut.
Tough call to take him out but at 116 pitches I get it.
That’s an amazing debut. Keep the kid around for a bit!
Just got off the ball field and see this news. Absolutely gut wrenching. Can’t even imagine the pain Dave, Shelley and Amy are in.
Dunc was the real deal. Randy nailed it. As genuine as they come. Just not fair.
We’ll miss ya Dunc.
Chris Duncan was kind, caring, innocent, respectful. Just a sweet guy. I loved being with him every day. He made us laugh. He was honest, self depreciating & vulnerable. I can't imagine the anguish Amy, Dave and Shelley are dealing with. Tell those you love that you love them.
Oh hey...almost forgot to mention that I’ll be hosting a show in STL tomorrow! Non-compete is over so time to get back on local airwaves as a host. At least for tomorrow, that is...
It’s a “mighty” fine station, too!
Kroenke shit on more than 2.8 million people in the STL Metro area & trashed the place on his way out so he could stuff a few more bucks in his already fat wallet but sure, he’s a great guy because he cares about 55-60 people who make him money.
GTFO with that BS.
Ram3
Whitworth: "We have an owner and staff that takes care of every employee that is displaced+flies our families to us, puts them in a hotel with us, and has our back at every turn … Makes you feel connected, appreciated+inspired to give them everything you got as a player.”
Bases loaded, nobody out with 2-3-4 coming up and not a single run crosses the plate?
Ridiculous.
I’m sorry but caring, working, trying, etc. just don’t matter at the Major League level.
Someone needs to get the damn job done.
Hooooooooollllly crap.
I was 20 years old the last time this team won a playoff game. Lol. That’s insane.
Love that the Rams eat the 💩 sandwich. Actually, I don’t hate Rams players. Just the owner Uncle Rico.
My pick was wrong but I don’t care.
Next week…let’s go.
Huh. Funny how that worked out. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the "mess" during Spags' last two years in STL was after Kroenke took over the team.
Nobody should listen to Demoff talk about anything other than licking his owner's boots.
It is well past time to see Spags get another head coaching opportunity.
The team & organization he inherited in STL was a mess, nobody could have had success. Yet he changed the culture/staff & players believed. An amazing human deserving of the real shot we couldn’t give him
I don’t understand baseball insiders/analysts questioning the timing of the Shildt extension being based on “just 38 games.”
How many games had Aaron Boone, Gabe Kapler or Mike Matheny, for that matter, managed before getting jobs?
(1/2)
Harrison Bader since 5/25:
.145/.246/.264
.118 ISO
26% K rate
36 wRC+ (translation: 64% below MLB average)
But by all means, keep running him out there and keep Arozarena in Memphis.
Good times…hasn’t been a smooth year but 7 shutout innings to get to 200 is pretty damn cool.
The career was great either way but it’s a nice round number to cap it off.
Just a few thoughts on the Contreras stuff...
Montgomery, Stratton, VerHagen, Gallegos, Cabrera and Helsley (outside of one HR vs SF) all seem just fine, all have numbers that are the same as or better than their career numbers.
Half the staff is meeting/beating expectations.
Oh....so NOW WE CAN CALL THE SLASH ON A BROKEN STICK???????.
Seriously,
@NHL
you suck. The same damn thing happened with Chara slashing Bozak’s stick in Game 1 and no call.
Pull your collective heads out of your asses.
So here's something fun...
I'm hosting PM drive on
@foxsports910
in Phoenix the next 3 days...that's 4-7 PM Pacific/6-9 PM Central.
God, I can't wait to get on the air, been almost 2 weeks!
So much football tonight. So much. Let's go!
Listen live:
I want to say more, it feels like I should...but I don’t know what to say.
Just total sadness.
A guy that made everyone happy, who made everyone laugh, isn’t here to do that anymore.
This sucks.
Three thoughts:
1) Losing in the NLCS sucks but not getting to the NLCS sucks more. This was a good season for the Cards. If you knew they’d make the NLCS back in Spring Training that would make you happy. It wasn’t pretty but only one NL team is advancing further than they did.
This is blackmail.
A billionaire is casually threatening fans that other cities might steal the Diamondbacks away if they don't get the public money they want.
They are in the 10th largest market in the country.
Nice way to follow up last year's playoff success, huh?
Ken Kendrick on the possibility of the Diamondbacks leaving Arizona:
"There are opportunities available ... It's not where we are spending time or energy. We may run out of time in Phoenix. We hope that won't happen."
From 2016-2018 I thought we were seeing the beginning of the end for Wainright. Then last year he was better and now he’s just dealing under the most unusual and difficult circumstances any MLB team has experienced with the 17- day layoff in-season.
Unreal.
Glad I was wrong.
Man, it's sad anyone wants an apology for that. It's the Major Leagues, they're grown men and he didn't know the public would hear it.
A lot of grown people swear. Some swear a lot.
That is okay.
Shildt on his postgame speech he didn’t know was recorded:
“I apologize if my language offended anyone, it’s not something I like to represent ... As far as Randy (Arozarena) goes, completely give Randy grace for it, he was just excited. He’s a great kid with a great heart.”
Remember in April when people were crapping on the Cardinals because they never figured out how to make Jordan Hicks a good SP???
Hmmm...
April: 1.86 ERA
May: 3.99 ERA
June: 5.24 ERA
July: 7.74 ERA
Lesson: Never fall in love in April or September. LOL
And you know what, I’m not picking on Carpenter. I’m not gonna make fun of the guy. He’s struggling, he’s hurting (I’d argue both mentally and physically). He’s trying.
This is entirely about the manager refusing to accept what he’s been seeing for 4 1/2 months.
It’s not a secret btw, just me being stupid and not fitting everything into one tweet. Sorry.
@KMOXSports
is letting me back in the building. Hahaha. Sports Open Line tomorrow night 6-8 pm...gonna bug
@MarkReardonKMOX
during TIPM too.
Looking forward to seeing all my friends!
All kidding aside, that’s a clown play man. That’s an out the pitcher earned, an easy play for an MLB outfielder. How do you misjudge a ball by 15+ feet?
Ooooohhhh...Jordan Walker. Cardinals going for the high upside power bat out of HS again, like with Nolan Gorman. He’s a large man, 6’5”, and has big power and a cannon for an arm. Maybe a long term RF but power, power, power.
Horrible call in Braggin Rights.
I have zero invested in this, don’t care who wins, but that flagrant on Kofi is a joke. Fun game, two really good teams and you call that?
That's awful. Kyrou needs to be better than that.
That would mean a lot more if it weren't coming from a guy who ranks around 150th in the one thing he's supposed to be good at.
First time in like 20 years had to change seats in a movie theater to get away from people who wouldn’t shut up. They were Baby Boomers...the generation that whines the most about younger generations...talking like they were in their living rooms.

The

picked up four additions to their Top 30 Prospects list through trades on Sunday.
Check out where Tekoah Roby, Sem Robberse, Thomas Saggese and Adam Kloffenstein landed:
If I can criticize earlier I can also appreciate the in-depth response after the game.
If he had said anything close to this earlier in the day, he doesn’t get criticized and he doesn’t get booed on home ice.
Good for him. Despite my criticism, I am rooting for the guy.
Kyrou on getting booed by fans throughout tonight's game: "I see where they're coming from with how my comment sounded."
And he gets emotional when saying: "It's just tough, right? I love playing here. So, it's just tough to hear the fans booing me there."
#stlblues
1) Waino just proved all of my concerns about his start today were dead wrong.
2) This makes me happy.
Veteran comes up big. Nothing to do but say I had it wrong on this one and...
Holland being bad is not the manager’s fault.
Continuously going to him in close games and not having anyone hot behind him mostly certainly is Matheny’s fault.
They used one reliever two days ago.
They didn’t need one yesterday.
Stop going to Holland in close games. The end.
This one hurts.
Universal admiration and respect are almost impossible to achieve but Commish pulled it off.
Rick Hummel was a Hall of Famer in every way and I am better for having gotten to know him a bit.
My friend Derrick nailed it. Please read this...
RIP Commish
My colleague. My mentor. My dearest friend.
And he deserves my absolute best to capture the incredible life of the beloved Hall of Fame baseball writer who defined professionalism and the profession.
Rick Hummel (1946-2023)
The Commish, RIP.
Goldschmidt 23-game hitting streak is just absolute nonsense. LOL. The day before the streak started he was hitting .269 with 3 HR and .746 OPS. Now he's hitting .355 with 11 HR and 1.059 OPS.
Yikes. There’s your nightmare scenario...4 run lead, hand it over to the three relievers you want to finish games and blow that 4 run lead.
That’s a bad loss. I know it’s early. I’m the “it’s early guy” but losing that one to MIL hurts.
That was a great World Series.
Never really cared who won, just wanted a long and competitive series. We got that. We got big names, big performances and we got history.
First 7 game series ever to have the road team win all 7 games.
Happy for the Nats.
.
@KevinWheeler94
hasn’t had a radio show in seven long long long days and he’s got some opinions pent up. A brand new BPIB unleashes Wheels on lineup, on Arozarena, and whether his pointed takes on Shildt need to be reconsidered.

Hello there.
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question - I have been called stupid many times - but if you’re good enough to hit 3rd upon being recalled shouldn’t you, uh, stick around a bit?
Just a question from a dumb guy.
The Cardinals have won 12 of their last 16 and during that span have scored more runs than any team in baseball, averaging 7 runs per game.
And yet we have people on this website droning on and on about hitters who shouldn't be here or guys in Memphis who should come up.
Pitcher of the month in the month where he turned 40.
Crazy.
We're talking some MLB HOF on Sports Open Line tonight and some "what if" on Waino had he not lost seasons to injury...
Here's what the Red Sox just did:
- Won 108 regular season games
- Went 11-3 in the postseason
- Beat teams that won a combined 295 games
- Beat teams that had a combined payroll of $542 million in 2018
Yikes. That's gotta come down as one of the best seasons ever, right?
Okay, this is super weird. I’m not judging, not saying it’s wrong...just saying it’s weird w/ Cards down 2-0, bases loaded against them with no outs in the 9th and the crowd is cheering for the hitter.
Not just any hitter, obviously. Albert Pujols.
That was something.
Horrible pitch by Norris. 58-footer. Ridiculous.
But...that’s a pathetic effort by Kelly. Pathetic. This must be why they’re not playing him. Bases loaded, bottom 9 and you try to backhand the ball instead of block? That shit belongs in the minors.
Don’t do it like this, kids.
Great season for Mizzou. Very impressed with the body of work, Drink and the boys did a fantastic job.
11 wins in the SEC plus a bowl against a perennial power is something…
Nothing against KC, not rooting against them, but happy to see Cincy in the Super Bowl. New blood. Great to see them rise from the bottom…great comeback too.
Burrow is a boss.
I know I’ve been quiet lately (I’m sure many of you are enjoying that) and that’s because I’ve been working on some new things. Most are not ready to be mentioned...but one is.
Excited to be doing PM Drive on
@foxsports910
in Phoenix again this week! Mon-Thu 4-7 Pacific.
