@Julie_Killen_ It's not perfect, but it's much better than gas central heating which also doesn't work in a power cut, or a coal fire which only heats a room and doesn't provide light or hot water for a shower etc

@Julie_Killen_ A home battery combined with a smart meter is also great for availing of the super low "Smart Tariff" rates from 2am-5am where electricity Units cost as low as 6c compared to normal rates of about 20c (night) or 30c (day).

@Nick_Delehanty Nuclear is great, but solar/wind/batteries is cheaper. Nuclear should probably be legal, but nobody would build it due to the high cost and long timeline.

Really need a footpath at the entrance to the Irish National War Memorial Gardens. Cars mixing families on foot is too dangerous. @HeritageIreOPW @DubCityCouncil @DublinCommuters

@bonkers_ie Do any of the smart meter electricity plans offer monthly bills where you pay for exactly what you use each month? Or is it still a bi-monthly bill or an estimated monthly bill? I’d switch to a provider that offered accurate monthly bills.

@GerHerbert1 “The report notes that virtually all cases involved a larger vehicle, such as a car, truck or van.” So the article is really about cars/trucks being a huge danger to all the humans outside the cars.

@johnofladublin Very interesting, thanks John. Would you mind sharing your source for that image? Are you saying the bus used to follow this route? Or do you mean it's from an old plan for this route? Thanks

@DublinCommuters @BusConnects Anyone have more info about how the spines would be adjusted? Or the status of the planning process? I'm struggling to imagine how Rathmines, Rathgar, Terenure etc would link up with the Dart line. Would it be a detour up past Christchurch and then up the quays?

@IrishRail Thanks. And just for info, when searching on google maps for “Belfast train station” the first result is Lanyon Place Station.

@wexfordobrien @GerHerbert1 EVs are already close to price parity with combustion cars and will likely be cheaper in the next few years. IMHO, the money would be better spent on Charging infrastructure which seems to be the biggest obstacle to decarbonising transport.

@ijustine Pity it didn't launch with Wi-Fi 7, which was shipped with the iPhone 16 when it launched last September

@jasonomahony Nuclear gets a lot of attention but projects like this long duration battery in Donegal deserve much more press. Wind & solar paired with short & long duration storage will most likely be the cheapest, cleanest and most reliable solution for Ireland:
