Development of the Menengai Geothermal field started in 2009. The project is expected to be developed in 3 phases. The goal is to achieve 465 MW of Geothermal steam. @GDCKenya has already created 25 km of a steam delivery system that supplies steam to the power plants.

Makupa Bridge has been under construction since April 2021 was scheduled for completion this April, a finish time that will now be exceeded by 2months. It will pave the way for the demolition of Makupa Causeway, which will see Mombasa reverting to its natural status as an island.
