We lost Colin in an accident last Saturday. His funeral was today. While I’m overwhelmed by the support of our family, friends, and community I have no words to express my sadness.

The auction for the Colin Garrett scholarship was held today at Dunlap Livestock Auction. I didn’t know what to expect. 117,600$ was raised. I’m overwhelmed by the support of our communities and really all of our “Ag” community. My family lives in a perfect place.
I’ll never be able to turn Colin’s accident into a positive. But if we can do some good to support our kids it will bring some comfort to my family to help others.

1st is dry ddgs or distillers grains. Ddgs are a by product out of the ethanol industry. These are 28% protein and serve as a source of energy

Our cattle are put on feed at around 500 lbs. we start with a diet of corn silage, dry distillers grains, and soy hulls. The beginning ration is about 10 lbs total. When they are eating about 18 lbs per head per day we add corn.
This typically earlier than a normal cattle
Ended up seasoning with salt and pepper and cooking on the skillet. Plopped some homemade cajun butter on top after cooking.

Because of the weather we held everybody up till daylight. It’s nasty out. But it’s time to roll.
