Ha! I was tagged in a recent review where the reviewer said they knew it was book 3 before they started reading, and they would have given it 5 stars if...wait for it...they'd started at book 1. Because there were obviously things they'd missed by, you know, starting at book 3.
I get that this is a "me" thing, but I am increasingly frustrated with reviews complaining that book eight (or twelve or sixteen) in a series isn't a good "entry point." No, it's not. You know what is? BOOK ONE.

Just an FYI, Karen....Nope. For the curious… The only “gender ideology” I recall is a teen being asked her pronouns. The novel is set post-pandemic and deals with the grief of things lost. Not sure what the SJ ref is. Probably just that it's a typical KA book ;)
