You don't need a dictionary definition of metaphor or any other figure of speech to understand that to kill doesn't mean literally kill. It can equate to the eradication of entitlement to or ownership of certain things. What used to be reserved for white men, for example, had the word "white" as a prefix to reserve it exclusively for them. It goes hand in hand with privilege. Why not be prepared to consider that there is another side to a story? There has been no related conduct to support the assertions that it should be taken literally.

And those are the buildings that should be subject to expropriation under the Act. It was previously difficult to find the owners of dangerous structures simply to turn them down. Often the shell companies had become inactive and we would have to reregister then. They had no other assets so sequestration and acquisition at auction prices was the only way to tear them down. They were hideously expensive processes. Shareholder of the shell company often couldn't be located at all, was no longer with us or simply didn't care. It is not jut but farmland - owning immovable property in SA does not confer only rights but responsibility to ensure you're maintaining it properly and not letting it become some kind of death trap.
