Canberra, you’ve been life changing, eye opening, beautiful and exactly what I needed for the past 14 months. But it’s time this country girl heads home. Home, to where my hearts always been and where my future always was, whatever that looks like.

Our Darling Baaka is crying out for help, the NSW Government is ignoring it. While some water is coming down, we’re getting the dregs after upstream has had its feast. It’s time to restore some balance and address over-extraction.

The idea this river is meant to be dry is misinformation, spread by those upstream that don't want the truth. "From 1885 to 1950, prior to flow regulation, the Barwon–Darling flowed 92% of the time." This is not natural, the Darling-Baaka should flow.

Buybacks are the cheapest and most effective way to save this river. Big irrigators upstream have had it too good for too long, it’s time to look after downstream. Contact @RoseBJackson & @ChrisMinnsMP to tell them you care about what’s happening along the Darling-Baaka.

The beetroot shortage is a wake-up call. Government buybacks are raising water prices. Higher costs to grow food + supermarkets squeezing farmers on prices = more burgers with less. Our food supply chain is under pressure from anti-farming #ausgov policies and supermarket greed.

Some of you may have seen the @AlboMP Gov'ts emotive & factually incorrect ad that talks about overuse of water in the # #MurrayDarling Basin. There's actually significant underuse of water. The propaganda from @tanya_plibersek 's Department is disgraceful. ⬇️ NSW Murray ⬇️

Let’s be clear, all the government is doing is just implementing the Basin Plan . It isn’t anymore water that what was agreed on in 2012. Irrigators trying to whittle it down further just shows their disregard for the environment.

TO BE CLEAR: 🚨 Yesterdays Water Bill was not about recovering a drop of additional water, simply delivering the 3200GL agreed to in 2012.... The timelines have been extended, and ways to do it broadened but nothing has changed with the quantity.

Lot of concern about damage of water recovery to towns. Regional decline is a huge issue but pointing the finger at buybacks is ignoring the fact this decline is happening country-wide. Communities with & without buybacks are both experiencing it. @NationalFarmers

The National Party are hypocrites... They don't like buybacks unless its them purchasing water from who they want. $78m for Tandou $80m for 'Watergate' Farmers should have the freedom to sell their water if they want.

Federal Labor water buybacks will devastate Basin communities . They refuse to say how many job losses will occur as a result. If the Albanese Government were serious about the wellbeing and future of communities in the Basin, they would have done the economic modelling before

Frustrating that our MP Mark Coulton will do interviews about apparent ‘over recovery’ but is silent on the damage over-extraction has caused downstream. Hasn’t uttered a word about the current fish kills occurring either. The electorate of Parkes deserves better.

None of us want to see rural decline, but the fact is we all are in our towns- buybacks or not. I’m determined to change that but the finger can’t be pointed at the wrong thing. Irrigators have been spinning this rhetoric for years and I’m so glad it’s finally been called out.

Basin Plan has achieved so much, with 72% of inflows now staying in rivers. Spending billions on buybacks is not what the rivers need most: urgent action is needed on river killers like carp, choking the waterways - wrecking habitat and water quality. #auspol @tanya_plibersek

Australia has seen 28 women killed this year already, and it’s only mid April. 💔 I just landed in Sydney from Broken Hill & when deciding on how to get to my hotel, it was my first thought. When choosing what I want for tea & how to get it, the same thought.

What ‘happened at Menindee’ was irrigators upstream took too much water (because Govs allowed it) and as a result the quality and quantity of our flows deteriorated. People then sold out… Once again the Irrigators Council trying to rewrite history.

How is a position at NSW irrigators considered an ‘ethical job’? The last thing they do is ‘contribute to a more equitable/ environmentally sustainable world’. I’d argue a lot of the time they do the opposite… *I support irrigation but NSWIC are not ethical* @EthicalJobs

@Jeremy_Morton_ @NationalFarmers The multiple irrigators councils are there to represent voices of the irrigation community, @NationalFarmers should be representing all farmers. They don’t and that’s why people see straight through them, just another body who speaks for irrigators alone when it comes to water.

NSW RIGGING THE RESEARCH 🤔🤯 The NSW water minister “not disagreeing” work being done with a predicted outcome. Narrow research being done to only show the negative impacts of buybacks, that a Royal Commission found ‘do not exist or are greatly overstated’. @tanya_plibersek

THE RIVER CAN’T OWE YOU LAST YEARS WATER, WHEN IT DIDN’T HAVE ANY ITSELF! It’s sad how some irrigators view our most precious resource… Water doesn’t work like that, some years it’s there and others it’s not.
