I have taken similar shots a couple of times in the Lodhi garden. Rare phenomenon though. These parrots are by no means “obedient” or caged. The moment you get closer to take a shot they fly away in all directions. They are free. Not a good analogy. Here is my shot!
Sunday morning image in the park: have we become a nation of ‘obedient’ ‘zombie-fied’ caged parrots?

This is not lawyerly nitpicking. Grant of visas to foreigners is a sovereign right. Why are so many Indians trying to enter the US illegally? It is because they are not given visas. Indians face many difficulties in getting visas, especially from western countries. This includes genuine tourists, students, skilled workers. We don’t give visas to Pakistanis and restrict those to the Chinese or Afghans etc. National security reasons are a consideration. Those foreigners who engage in anti-Indian activities abroad of whatever nature are not given visas. Rightly so.
@KanwalSibal It doesn’t sound convincing. A lawyerly technical nit picking . Bast bani nahin

Indians criticising their own government and its policies is perfectly normal. NRIs can also do this legitimately. As Indian passport holders they can travel to India freely as a matter of right, whatever their political views, as they don’t need a visa. Foreigners, even of Indian origin, have no right to an Indian visa. India has the total discretion to give or deny a visa to them.
@KanwalSibal What about ethics? Is criticizing a government or its policy a crime? What kind of examples are we setting?

Yes. You don’t give a visa to a foreigner who smears you. Why he was given one is not clear- maybe as a humanitarian gesture. But that doesn’t make much sense either as it was not his ailing mother that was the motive to seek a visa. Since he also intruded into the mission, created a law and order problem, and the police had to be called requires cancellation of his visa.
@KanwalSibal After this drama, I seriously wish GoI cancels Calvin's visa as well.

No foreign national can claim an Indian visa by right. No explanation is needed for visa rejection. This is just ridiculous dramatics by this couple.
Indian consulate in Seattle rejects Anti-India Kshama Sawant’s emergency visa but grants it to her husband Calvin Priest allegedly as her name features in “rejection list”. Kshama tries to create chaos by playing Gandhi card, Consulate calls authorities

How can multinationals favour nationalism? It is against their business model. Interconnectedness is between nations. Making any neat distinction between nationalism and patriotism is rooted in politics, not logic. One can’t be patriotic without a commitment to the nation. There is an overlap between the two. In India it is part of the debate on Hindu nationalism versus secularism,
🚨 Narayana Murthy says it is not ideal to follow nationalism in today's interconnected world. He advised students to work for the welfare of the poor in the remote parts of the country and shed nationalism in favour of patriotism. He said Youths have a heavy responsibility currently.

With this kind of all round bullying by the Trump administration the earlier relative optimism that we may be able to manage our relations with the US better than others may be somewhat belied. We have friends in the new US administration but policy making under Trump is breaching norms. The US is now targeting waiver for Chabahar , which will be a set back for us and put our strategic autonomy to a difficult test. We are facing a new unilateralist phase in US foreign policy.
Trump's new 'maximum pressure' order on Iran to impact Chabahar port. The order will 'modify or rescind sanction waivers...' on Chabahar port. PS: India got a waiver on Chabahar port from US despite sanctions

Solution is to break the networks which organise this illegal migration. The Punjab government also has a responsibility in this regard as many from Punjab are illegal migrants. This has nothing to do with Modi’s friendship with Trump.
#WATCH | After a US Air Force plane brings to Amritsar the Indian citizens who allegedly illegally migrated to the USA, Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal says, "Modi ji calls Trump (US President Donald Trump) his friend. I request PM Modi ji to speak to Trump to find a solution to this issue....104 Indians deported from the US arrived at Amritsar today. Of 104 persons, around 30 people are from Punjab. All of them are in good health condition..."
