I worked 23 days as a moonlighting attending and made $53,000 before taxes. As a Cards PGY4, I make $74,000 a YEAR.
As the driving force behind academic institutions, the ones with the longer days, and less time off.

Average rent in Miami is ~$2400/month. Which usually equates to an entire residency paycheck + some. This ain’t program specific but imagine 60% of your income going to RENT ALONE we haven’t even included parking, electricity or wifi. 🥴 medicine is a rich man’s sport.

Why do we (doctors) associate more strenuous and grueling training with better? A resident that suffers through a malignant training program is more competent and ‘prepared’ than one with adequate time off, resources and support? I want yaw to kill that narrative. Respectfully ☺️

I saw a thread on here about the different residency specialties being paid the same (surgery vs IM) when the workload isn’t the same and I just think we’ve again started fighting amongst ourselves instead of demanding better treatment and pay from ACGME. 🤷🏽♀️

8 years since my dad passed away from sudden cardiac death. I stand here proudly wearing his name and achieving the goals we set. Living the life he KNEW I would.
My parents did a damn good job and I am forever grateful to them both. Everyday I aim to make them proud AF.

What’s the utility of screening for THC in routine drug tests? I just took a drug test for a moonlighting gig and it got me curious as to if there is ANY acute medical condition that requires us to know that a pt consumes? Is this another example of systemic racism? Thoughts?

I didnt get where I am by trying to fit the mold or blending in. I realize opportunities may miss me due to being 1000% unwilling to compromise on my personal morals and ethics and I am totally fine with that. The people and jobs that will find me will be meant for me.
