Playbook for undermining public admin…my paper with @gabilotta and her important work with @MCostasilveira @michaelmbauer @BarbaraPiotro @NadineRaaphorst @michellevferna2 + on this topic.
After extensively studying the strategies implemented by Bolsonaro's government to undermine public administration, I can assert that these tactics follow a tested playbook. This approach has been employed by various governments globally and is now being adopted by Trump admin. +

Interesting question. I've talked to Rothstein about this and his "indirect big bang" and in conversation and a close read of the paper, it sounds less like powering, if my memory is correct. It is important to note the "indirect" part of the big bang. Also, if I remember correctly, the "big bang" plays out over many years. Ends up looking more like incremental reform.

Important point—thank you for raising it! We completely agree that independence from private actors is crucial, especially in regulation. However, given the scope of the project and the data we had to work with, we weren’t able to include this at this time. It’s definitely an area worth exploring further!

Thank you, Bruno, for catching this! 🙏 I thought @ipeaonline had an entire section in the thread, but it seems it got lost in the copy-paste process. A huge shoutout to IPEA and the exceptional DIEST team that made this survey possible. I've tried to correct this oversight in a couple of places in the tweet.
