If Odell signs with another team...
Me: "That's ok, he's 30, coming off an ACL, and we are still rebuilding. Didn't make financial sense to devote a ton of resources to multi year deal."
If Odell signs with the Giants...
Me: " AYO LEGGGGOOOOOOOOO"
Maybe it does matter when your day 1 starting WRs are Richie James and Kadarius Toney.
(Yes, this is a Daniel Jones tweet)
(Yes, I know I risk getting yelled at)
Joe Schoen drafted Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Joe Schoen sat pat at the trade deadline and picked up a player on waivers that outperformed everybody else.
Joe Schoen hired Brian Daboll.
He's not the executive of the year, but this has been a strong first season.
Next to 6-foot-5, 315 lbs offensive tackle Andrew Thomas, we see Azeez Ojulari
@_Azeez_8
who spent some time in the hyperbolic time chamber getting jacked as hell sheesh
The Ravens lost entire RB room. Lost Lamar Jackson for almost as many games as Daniel Jones. Lost premium LT Ronnie Stanley. Didn't have 1st rder Rashod Bateman for most of the year. Lost best CB Marlon Humphrey to IR.
Managed to get to 8-8. Giants blaming injuries is 🐴💩
The Giants aren't thinking Malik Nabers is going to save Daniel Jones.
The Giants are thinking that they might actually have an NFL caliber roster for when the next QB comes.
After the Andrew Thomas, Dexter Lawrence, and Daniel Jones deals, the New York Giants STILL have $50M (11th most in the NFL) in projected cap space in 2024 with the only big contracts left to deal with being an RB (Saquon Barkley) and S (Xavier McKinney).
Set up for success.
Eagles snitched on Arizona for tampering with Jonathan Gannon and had them forfeit a draft pick.
Giants need to make sure they try and give that franchise the karma they deserve.
On Tuesday, Penn State coach James Franklin suggested that Eagles G.M. Howie Roseman spoke directly to RB Saquon Barkley during the negotiating period, which would violate the tampering rule. On Wednesday, the Eagles said they only speak to player agents.
The Giants were forced to start Fabian Moreau, Nick McCloud, and Jason Pinnock in the secondary at one point due to injury and these people wanna talk about "NYG got lucky"
James Bradberry was a model citizen as a Giant.
2020 was an All Pro, 2021 was up and down but to me still played at a CB1 level.
Never caused drama, team player, etc.
Sad to see him go if reports are true.
Why is it always the Giants? Why nobody talking about 31 year old Jimmy G getting a $77M contract and Josh Jacobs, aka owner of the 2022 rushing title, not getting a contract.
At least the Giants gave Saquon a little carrot. Raiders haven't done anything.
Le’Veon Bell says he doesn’t understand how ‘Bottom-Tier’ QB Daniel Jones got paid more than ‘Top-Tier’ RB Saquon Barkley.
“Daniel Jones, he’s in the bottom tier. He’s in the bottom tier of NFL quarterbacks,” Bell stated. “He’s not mediocre. There are average quarterbacks, he’s
I don't remember Andrew Thomas even giving up a pressure today. I DO remember the TV announcer taking him to task for a false start like he's a mediocre player.
Andrew Thomas, if he were on any other team, would be getting the Tristan Wirfs treatment. He was THAT good.
@KayFellowz
I don't have kids, but I am a physician. Im gonna tell ya'll to vaccinate your kids and feel pretty good about it. Before anybody tells me im "bought by big pharma" let me assure you my 2007 Honda Accord and $200k+ and rising debt disagree with you.
Odell one of my favorite Giants. Rooted for him as a Brown and Ram. You put on a star or an eagle and it's over. Wish him health and fortune but no success.
Since we're all being toxic, I'm just dropping by to remind you that the New York Giants over the last 4 years have spent the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 20th overall picks on offense and the optimistic expectations for that side of the ball is basically not to embarrass themselves.
Golden Tate:
1) Was signed to a big deal immediately after trading away OBJ
2) Got suspended while here
3) Showboated more than Odell did scoring TDs
4) Wife went on IG rant criticizing NYG
5) Bumped Sterling Shepard from the slot
Was there a more universally disliked signing?
This year, the New York Giants lost to the:
Eagles
Cowboys
Bears
Buccaneers
By a COMBINED 10 points. 10 points. One play difference in these 4 games and the Giants would be 9-3. What would the narrative have been then?
The Giants learned how to CLOSE games.
Giants get closer to Chase Young
Giants get closer to canning Gettleman/Shurmur
Giants made the Eagles look pretty terrible
The ONLY thing I feel bad about is Eli Manning. I hate this for him. But that's it. John Mara deserves this.
David Gettleman traded a 3rd, 4th, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 7th while the Giants were in a rebuilding phase for:
Alec Ogletree
Deandre Baker
Pending FA Leonard Williams
Isaac Yiadom
🙃
1) Refs bailed your sorry team out on a missed FG in 2021 that would've lost you the game.
2) Refs missed clear offsides and delay of game 2 weeks ago that would've brought us to FG range in OT.
3) Last play of this game you're salty about? Hands to the face of Thibodeaux.
Daboll showing up his quarterback for the cameras instead of waiting three minutes to have this talk in the locker room. Players have to hate this. Saving face for the viewers while losing the respect of your team.

***HOW I WOULD FIX THE GIANTS***
Definitely no easy task. Perhaps an impossible one. But I’m going to give it the ol’ college try. So let’s get this mega thread going. Follow along, this is going to be one LONG thread.
The Giants have $60M in cap space in 2024 (this includes the Dexter Lawrence and Daniel Jones deals) so the thought that Jones "stole" Saquon's money or something like that, is to put it nicely...misinformed.
You should expect better from the
#5
overall pick
You should expect better from your $40M QB
You should expect better from your $30M EDGE
You should expect better from your "Coach of the Yr"
It's Year 3 for this duo. Not asking for playoffs. Just not asking for whatever this is
Kwon Alexander 6-1, 227
Deion Jones 6-2, 222
Shaq Thompson 6-0, 230
Lavonte David 6-1, 233
Cory Littleton 6-3, 228
Roquan Smith 6-0, 230
Fred Warner 6-0, 230
Darius Leonard 6-2, 230
De'Vondre Campbell 6-3, 232
Isaiah Simmons is 6-4, 230. He can play LB in the NFL if he wants.
Brandon Scherff and Cam Robinson in Jacksonville.
Laken Tomlinson in New York Jets.
If you wanted Evan Neal or Ikem Ekwonu at 5, the chances of one of them being there have inched up.
Giants gonna get people depressed then get them studying top draft picks then win just enough to not get those guys and then repeat the pattern next year.
#6
overall pick Ikem Ekwonu has given up 3 sacks in 2 games thus far, including one to Oshane Ximines.
#9
overall pick Charles Cross has given up at least 1 (don't know how he did week 2).
Evan Neal is a rookie. He's not the only one struggling right now. This is expected.
It's funny. The worst game Jermaine Johnson had that I watched was against...UNC. And I never bothered to check if anybody on that OL was draft eligible. And of course, we draft 2 of them.
I learned in 2020 that tanking gets you Chase Young. Winning can get you Andrew Thomas.
I don't think the Giants make the playoffs, but wins have been hard to come by lately. I'm going to enjoy every single one we get.
More important is that we've finally got a coaching staff.
Restructuring and doubling down on Leonard Williams is probably what cost the Giants from keeping James Bradberry.
Poor moves from the last regime and this is what you get. Probably the last "difficult" decision the Giants will have to make this year.
Now have $15.6M in space.
The Giants have Elerson Smith and Quincy Roche behind Azeez Ojulari. Alpha EDGE rusher need aside, I understand that losing Lorenzo Carter isn't ideal but you have to try and let the young guys try and thrive.
Couldn't help myself but give y'all one more GIF. This is
#NYG
6th rounder Cam Brown (
#6
) tossing future first round pick Iowa OT Alaric Jackson like a child's toy before getting into the backfield for a tackle for loss.
Who will be
#Colts
' next full-time HC? (
@betonline_ag
):
Mike Kafka (+350)
Jeff Saturday (+500)
Greg Roman (+600)
DeMeco Ryans (+700)
Kellen Moore (+750)
Eric Bieniemy (+900)
Jim Harbaugh (10/1)
Shane Steichen (12/1)
Jerod Mayo (12/1)
Byron Leftwich (12/1)
Raheem Morris (14/1)
Andrew Thomas has not allowed a pressure in his last 65+ pass blocking reps, and only 8 total pressures in the last 150+ pass blocking reps (courtesy
@PFF
).
For everybody knocking Andrew Thomas as a "high floor" prospect... I mean... Isn't that the point of OL? He's going to open lanes for Saquon better than anybody else in this draft and keep DJ upright. What the hell else you want from a 4th overall tackle???
If the Giants cut:
Nate Solder
Alec Ogletree
Janoris Jenkins
Rhett Ellison
Kareem Martin
Antoine Bethea
Spencer Pulley
They will have $103 million in cap space.
The entirety of NYG twitter thinks the Giants are winning tonight. That can only mean one of two things:
1) Giants actually win
OR
2) Giants get blown out before the 1st quarter ends.
There is no in between.
For the second consecutive week,
#Giants
OC Mike Kafka schemed up an easy TD. You can really see how well the design plays out here.
Great post-catch effort from rookie TE Daniel Bellinger. He followed up a strong blocking effort from Week 1 with a game-changing play Week 2 🥁🥁
I really enjoy Bucky like 99% of the time but this more off than Christopher Columbus thinking he landed in India.
Saquon and FIFTEEN offensive players are at a Daniel Jones led retreat in Arizona this week.
Players in the last years of their deal want new contracts.
This happens when you “overpay” the QB1. The locker room knows if the QB is special or not, and when the team pays franchise $ for a “manager+”, it is hard for the stars to settle for lesser pay. Game recognizes game.. Giants gotta fix it or it could wreck the squad in ‘23
I find it hard to believe it's even a "debate" among people about picking up Jabrill Peppers and Evan Engram 5th year options. The Giants are paying Leonard Williams $16 million this year. You ain't gonna pay Engram and Jabrill a combined $12 million? Come off it.
Brian Daboll may be an asshole. There's probably some truth to the issues coaches have with him.
But he's not the one who ran to and aired dirty laundry to the media midseason. That's where you lose my respect.
Giants are leaking this because they didn't get their QB and don't want to go into the season with it being an open secret that Daniel Jones is dead in the water as their QBotF, even though everyone knows.
In addition to having that cap space next year, the Giants can cut Leo Williams if he doesn't perform this year for $18M in cap savings as well.
They also have nobody worth re-signing to a big $ deal (Saquon? Slayton? Martinez? Shepard).
This will be a totally new team in 2023
Just to get everybody all angry and stuff: The Giants let Justin Pugh go for 5 years, $45 mill. This year, they are paying Ereck Flowers $5 mill, have Alec Ogletree for 4 years, $42 million, and have Jonathan Stewart for 2 years, $6 million.
Just saying.
The Eagles could cut:
Fletcher Cox
Derek Barnett
Zach Ertz
Alshon Jeffery
Malik Jackson
Brandon Graham
Desean Jackson
Dallas Goedert
Marquise Goodwin
And still be $30 MILLION OVER the cap. Only way they get out of this mess is if they find a sucker to take Carson Wentz' contract
I think the Giants will end up paying Andrew Thomas and Dexter Lawrence combined $55M/year.
But you're talking about All Pros that if they stay with the team can be in the conversation for all time franchise greats. This is why you have money. Pay your guys.
Two
#Giants
topics I cannot stand:
1) Saquon. I think he was a bad pick too but he's NYG his success is our success & we have no control. There is a path towards usefulness if he can be a strong pass game option.
2) Odell. Love him but ain't coming back. If he does, we'll talk.
Maybe it's the organization's media rally that's brainwashed me but I've had an about face on this whole thing:
- Daboll may be a jerk but Wink fed Glazer and let the flames prosper thru the season. Didn't keep it "in house" like Daboll tried.
- The "24" playsheet was garbage.
As of this morning, Wink Martindale hasn’t actually submitted his resignation to the Giants, per sources. So a little cat and mouse game going on. Remember, Martindale is officially under contract for one more year.
#Giants
I do not think we should overpay for a WR. If you need to give up a 2nd round pick plus for Jerry Jeudy, don't do it.
Stay the course. I don't think Schoen is going to panic because of this loss.
🤔🤔🤔 So now the Jaguars have come out and said they would have taken Kadarius Toney at 25 and the Packers were exploring a trade up from 29 to draft him.
Don't remember the last time I have heard MULTIPLE teams have same player leaked as a target that they were sad not to get
My best guess pre-combine from rumors/consensus of the top 7 would be something like:
1) JAX OT Evan Neal
2) DET EDGE Aiden Hutchinson
3) HOU EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux
4) NYJ S Kyle Hamilton
5) NYG OT Ikem Ekwonu
6) CAR QB Kenny Pickett
7) NYG CB Ahmad Gardner
Players to keep on the Giants:
Daniel Jones
Saquon Barkley
Will Hernandez
Kevin Zeitler
Darius Slayton
Sterling Shepard
Evan Engram
Dexter Lawrence
Julian Love
That's literally it. Everybody else is for sale. Hell even some of those players above are for sale.
